Interview with the all-conquering-god Mae Jae Yoon (Savior) after his 3-1 victory over Nada in the ShinHan Ongamenet Starleague Season 3 Final.
-Finally you have conquered the OSL.
▶I’m very happy. All I can say is thanks. I have worked so hard for today’s match. The maps were so hard for Zerg I practiced so much looking for answers. Considering how difficult it was to reach the top it makes me even happier.
-Who are you thinking of the most at this moment.
▶Lot’s of people. From our team Ju Hyun Joon (TheManiaMST) helped me the most. During the practice sessions for the final I was very temperamental. Usually I’m not the type to get angry during games but I was so pumped up my nerves wouldn't hold. I’ll use this as an opportunity to apologize for that. Also I want to thank CJ for their constant support and interest, and anyone else who have supported me during televised games or by posting in forums. I thank my coach, staff and colleagues for all they have done. I tried my hardest to make up for Young Min and Hyung Tae (Much and Iris) who I faced during the quarter and semi finals.
-You are officially the 6th royal roader.
▶To be honest that never crossed my mind. Having won I finally realised I had completed the royal road. After that epiphany my mind went blank.
-What part of today’s match did you anticipate the most?
▶I always think of the first game as the most important in any best-out-of series. Every game it’s also important to think about how you want to win. It’s important to have strategies that affect the opponent psychologically.
-Would you have predicted a 3-1 victory?
▶I had my mind simply on winning, I did not consider the possible outcomes. After every game I just concentrated on the next game. I tried not to be distracted by the scores. I focused on mind control. Lee Yoon Yeol (Nada) is a very intuitive player. Even though I had my game plans I would always have to alter and adapt my play according to his so preparations were difficult. Today yet again it came to mind what a brilliant player he is.
-2nd game was quite a defeat.
▶I guessed completely wrong. My play did not pull through and I lost. It felt like such an easy loss. His response to speed zerglings was good and I could not predict he would attack with such timing.
-You made a queen in the 3rd game. Was there a reason for this?
▶It was to gain the edge in terms of momentum. I wanted to deal psychological damage. Through such means I can start off the next game with an edge over my opponent. Personally I even consider the pre-game interviews as a form of tactics. Mind games are just as important during games.
-In a week’s time there is the MSL final
▶Now that this is over I will have a brief break before starting preparations. What I believe in is my confidence and momentum. I will utilise this to its full and really go for it.
-Soon begins the ShinHan Masters series.
▶During the ShinHan OSL 2006 group drawings I heard that I could not play in the Masters if I do not make it into the final. Now that I am the champion that thought comes to mind. My confidence is overwhelming especially because I have won a Starleague that had tough maps for Zerg.
-You will not forget the year 2006.
▶This Starleague win means a successful end to the last year as well as a good start to the new year. This win is so satisfying seeing as it holds so many meanings.
-What are your goals for the 2007 season.
▶My aim in 2006 was to become the best player. The season isn’t over yet so I will try my best to fulfil this goal. I haven’t decided on a specific goal for 2007. I did not have time to think about this because there have been so many games. After the MSL final I will give it a thought during the month’s break.
-What do you think of your reputation as the greatest player of recent times?
▶Initially I didn’t give much thought. However the thought was so prominent within communities and among fans I accepted it. I will try my best to justify my reputation. I will never become arrogant or complacent so I hope you will all retain your attention and support.

After a big win a player feels accomplished. After a win in repeated tournaments of this caliber a player can get lazy afterwards.
Savior didn't show this at all after winning his MSL's. But maybe he will after winning an OSL and an MSL should he beat Bisu. He may lose a bit of that edge and become complacent.
Let's hope not because he provides us with so many amazing games and people saying 'WTF LOSE ALREADY'. Let's really hope not. I don't even watch his games yet he's exciting.
He just shit on my theory with this excellent interview. You go Savior. You go rock 2007.

omg thx for this awesome translation, thank you so much!!

wow, that was fast! Thanks fireblast! that was a very good interview! how can you not love this guy?
|
Thanks for the translation. I thought Savior owned the prematch interview. Even with my limited Korean I could just get the feeling Nada sounded weak in comparison. I think it definitely played a part.
|
thanks for the very good translation way to go savior
i can only judge from the short pre-game and post-game interviews, but it just seems like savior has the psychological advantage. he seemed faaar more confident pre-game, while nada was just mumbling standard answers. nada seems too humble and timid. savior is da man.

Cool interview, thanks a lot Fireblast
Questions are quite nice and he answers honestly. I especially like the part about mind games and the infested cc. Self confidence is giving him an edge at the moment. We'll see how long he can keep this spirit.

Shinhan masters is basically an invite for people who (correct me if im wrong) made it to the finals of past OSLs (shinhan only i think)....basically just another win for savior :p

So that means there will be a tourney with: -Anytime (So1 Shinhan 2005 OSL/Shinhan2 2006 OSL) -Nada (Shinhan2 2006 OSL/Shinhan3 2006 OSL) -Savior (Shinhan3 2006 OSL) -Cazy (Shinhan1 2006 OSL) -Chojja (Shinhan1 2006 OSL) -Boxer (So1 Shinhan 2005 OSL)
Correct?

not just finalists, its cumulative points based thing from all the shinhan starleagues.
" I tried my hardest to make up for Young Min and Hyung Tae (Free and Iris) who I faced during the quarter and semi finals." much, not free.

Casy*. Also, if this is true, that would be fucking sick. I never use "sick", but I think that lineup would probably blow the shark out of the water.
