Possession of a condom won't generally change whether or not highschoolers shag, and helping prevent accidental pregnancy/disease is never a bad thing.

Just let them know where to get them. We have a house in our town where anyone can get them for free. But you still gotta go to the drug store if you've got preferences. Sensi-thin for the win etc..

There is a Planned Parenthood very close to my high school that distributes like 50 condoms for a few bucks, but nobody tells people where it is.

In my eyes if we don't distribute and educate about condoms at that time then we're just helping teenage pregnancy grow. I'm sure the lack of access to condoms (lack of money, not wanting the embarassment from the store, etc) and the fear of pregnancy stops some teens from having sex. It may not be an overwhelming amount, but there are still a few. If you eliminate this barrier by distributing condoms freely in schools, this number will increase. And with the main message of safe sex education being abstinence, giving away contraceptives would kind of undermine this message, no?

Even if the number of kids having sex increases slightly, I'm sure the overall number of pregnancies would decrease due to the extremely easy access to contraceptives.

This does not mean that they won't have sex....I think that there is no reason not to distribute them. When the median age for the loss of virginity in the United States is dropping into the middle schooler range, having condoms in high school wouldn't mean shit to the jaded kids of today's society.

Some american parents may not want their kids to have free access to condoms, but preventing aids is more important, for the country, for the world.

if condoms are less stigmatized for adolescents, they will become more comfortable around them and will increase the likeliness of use imo

Id rather they pass out condoms for safe sex than have these kids go without protection.
