Also, it's been shown that abstinence-only sex education does not work. Contraception, on the other hand, does. I live in Hawaii, and my school had the highest STD rate (70 something percent of sexually active senior blood donors, but it's a statistical inaccuracy because most people gave blood specifically to be tested for STDs for free). We had a daycare that was usually full of upwards of 30 kids while the mothers attended class. Shit, we should be making condoms available to everyone freely. That way my tax money doesn't go to fucking daycare at a public high school, and can instead be spent upon better educational institutions or cleaning up the city or something good. Who the fuck cares if your views are against premarital sex? Haven't you noticed by now that a lot of kids' views aren't? Just because you wouldn't do it definitely does not mean that they won't.

It dropped the spread of HIV and Hep B by like 80% within 2 years or something in NY. Read The Tipping Point by Malcom Gladwell. I'm pretty sure it's in the chapter on connectors. Again, you shouldn't be against something that improves the quality of life for everyone as a whole just because you're too blind to see the positive effects behind helping out drug users or people who choose to have premarital sex. Goddamn, get over it already. People have sex and use drugs, and there's life after both of them.

I'm grateful that in elementary school, I was taught that drugs are "bad". So yes, it did work for me. Maybe it doesn't work for everyone, but nothing does. Well, the thing is, drugs aren't all that bad. You won't give my statement any credence because of D.A.R.E., but believe me when I say that as long as you have a healthy relationship with drugs, they're fine. Just like sex - if you practice safe, healthy sex, there are no problems. Two of the biggest failures of the education system have been abstinence-only sex education and the "Just say no" drug program. They don't work. Why isn't it "Just say KNOW"? That way, kids who would get into drugs anyway would know what they're getting into, and would control their use much better, and go on to lead healthy lives using drugs (not abusing). On the upside, both of these programs have largely been suspended due to lack of effectiveness. And isn't there something in the foundation of America about "... certain inalienable rights, and among them are life, liberty, and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS"? Drugs aren't that bad if you're healthy about it.

If you're not man enough to buy the shit, you aren't allowed to have sex. I agree that it's best people buy their condoms themselves, but some people don't, and just because they don't doesn't mean they won't have sex. In other words, girls will get pregnant.. that's why it's better if for example the school distributes them. As someone else said, it also makes it more "natural" and "normal" to have protected sex.

Surely Jefferson did not want to see people like chibi in the "pursuit of happiness." Hyperbole it may be, but the purpose of a hyperbole is to place emphasis on the statement, and I'm pretty sure that's what they wanted. The means to pursue happiness is one of those things that they think everyone should have - nay, are born with - and should not be taken away, just like life and liberty (which is one of the most widely interpreted statements ever, I know). And America as a country, thus, was founded on these ideals. And yes, everyone gets laid in college, seriously. It's almost retarded - BUT IT'S GREAT. Stay in school.
