i deleted it from my disk cause it was fuckin around with me i use to never see it in the ctrl-alt del screen, and now i did so when i closed it....everything else would suddenly close wtf is that all about?
but now i cant go in desktop properties or click on my computer clock
ps dont ever just delete stuff.... not a bright idea
Process File: rundll32 or rundll32.exe Process Name: Rundll32 Description: Microsoft "Run a DLL as an App". RUNDLL32 is the Microsoft Windows program that loads DLLs into memory so that they can be used by specific programs or by Windows. Company: Microsoft Corp.
dont delete it. But if your browser or some other program freezes up, ctrl alt del and end task rundll32. I used to do that and it would unfreeze almost every time. But then i got DSL and it doesnt work anymore....cant tell you why.
Start -> Run -> Type "cmd" -> Ok -> Type "sfc /scannow" -> Press Enter -> Put in windows CD if/when prompted.
That goes for the rest of you as well *_* Anyone with any corrupted files, deleted files, or glitches that seemingly came out of nowhere should do this. SFC = System File Checker.
Like bey said, dont just delete stuff if you are unsure of what a certain process is then google for it first to see if it's an important one (most system files are )
"Ok right, Masterwhatever, I had the exact same problem. I fixed it by doing the following. Download run32dll.exe from the link that was given above (restoring from cabs didnt want to work for me either.
Unzip the file and shove it somewhere, say the desktop. Now run 'msconfig' and click on expand/extract file. Now for 'file to restore' type rundll32.exe. In 'restore from' point it to the rundll32.exe on your desktop (click on browse to locate it. In 'save file in' put c:\windows

Explorer.exe won't go away. I don't know what this is, so I'm going to throw my laptop out my window and set it on fire.
Good plan. Explorer.exe is a pain in the ass anyway. I nuke that puppy occasionally. If my PC is being retarded, sometimes it feels good to end processes until it freaks out and then hard reboot.
Mind you, you really shouldn't do this unless you A: know what the fuck you're doing, or B: don't mind taking the risk that you somehow manage to make your computer go kersplat.

This one is funny because that exact same thing happened to my mother on my parents computer a few years ago...
That, and deleting "Program files(x86)", because she "already had a Program Files folder with everything, I thought I made a copy by mistake!", and being surprised that her windows wouldn't let her delete everything in there...

I support killing explorer.exe on a regular basis so it know who's the boss. Otherwise it might start doing stupid stuff like this:
I just took those screenshots of my task manager. Explorer.exe always fills my whole 4GB RAM whenever I access certain folders. I guess that I have HDD damage and that's why my system behaves so strange.
Not gonna lie, I've helped people like this who then somehow blow up their own computer after failing at the instructions and then went MIA online for a few days/weeks.. scaring me cause I thought I had fucked up then they told me the stupid things they did -_-

Beyonder saves the day again! Remember kids: Don't delete random files from your OS.
Actually a long time ago I deleted several .dll files from my PC. What happened is that I saw this bunch of text files (they were opened with good ol' Notepad) with a lots of gibberish written and I thought to myself: "F**c that! I won't let Windows pile up a bunch of unusefull files in my hard drive!! F**c you Bill Gates!!!" And proceed to shift+delete all dll. You can imagine by yourselves how this story ended...
This speech is my recital, I think it's very vital To rock (a rhyme), that's right (on time) It's Tricky is the title, here we go...
It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time It's Tricky...it's Tricky (Tricky) Tricky (Tricky) It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time It's Tricky...Tr-tr-tr-tricky (Tricky) Trrrrrrrrrrricky

Oh those were the days, when 1/4th of 1 gig was the standard ram.
oh yeah, because rundll32 is not important. takes up soo much space your comp can't even function. k, not sure if interwebz can read sarcasm but another epic bump.
Not gonna lie - I ROFL'd a good bit at this one...moreso because I clicked it expecting a mock post explaining rundll32's bio, history, recent performance, etc.
Necro threads always interest me, because you see how many high post-count posters end up getting nuked at some point. It seems to be not uncommon. They all cross the line eventually...

Many of those oldschoolers actually requested perm bans cause that was pretty much the only way to get away from this fucking place xD

Chibi got banned for being a pedophile and stimey got banned for being completely intolerable.
I suppose I should add that they were both given more than their fair shares of chances before the perm was hit. They knew it was coming but they thought, time and time again, that they did not have to abide by the basic etiquette the rest of us did back then.
In fact, the reason they have so many posts is precisely because they were given so many chances. Just wanted to let it be known that they were not requested, not to be harsh or anything...
Also, wasn't Veg the same guy who wanted to download RAM?

I've got a tribute to stimey and chibi in my profile. Lot's of old school posts I dug up.
Oh veg...you and your inability to handle the computer technology of 2004. Hopefully he has learned how to operate a computer better by now. Wasn't here to experience Veg's topics but word of mouth was that he was quite legendary with tech support questions.
