The only map that's to be used in this tournament is Fighting Spirit 1.3. The bracket is played in double-elimination. The losers' bracket winner must beat the winners' bracket winner twice in order to become the champion. The winners' bracket champion only needs to win once. All rounds are bo7 bo7 - this means that each won bo7 gives you 1 point towards the total bo7. This will require you to win 4 bo7s and will result somewhere between 16-49 games per round. Example: 4-2, 3-4, 4-2, 4-3, 2-4, 4-1 Final score: 4-2 (total score of 21-16 -> 37 games played)
The first round starts Sunday, Dec 05 10:00am GMT (GMT+00:00).
Each round lasts 2 weeks and ends on Sundays at 10:00 GMT (+00:00) (this should be displayed in your local time). There will be a holiday break starting December 19th and ending January 2nd, 2022. This means the first round is played between December 5th and December 19th. The second round starts January 2nd and ends January 16th. After that each ending Sunday is the start of the next round.
This tournament is only open to foreigners. Everyone must play on their most known username and join the official FS Mania Discord server: https://discord.gg/UtkRZZSwVW Change your username on Challonge (after signing up) and on the Discord server to your most known username. Signed up players who I cannot find on the Discord will be removed from the bracket. Each round you will be placed into a dedicated channel with your opponent. This is to remove any disputes and to help in advancing players when any matches are unfinished at the deadline.
Due to the sheer amount of games, only selected matches will be casted. And within that match, only a subset of games may be casted. This is at the sole discretion of the casters. There will be a total of 4 community casters during the bracket phase. Every cast will be uploaded to their respective YouTube channel afterwards.
If you set a time with an opponent to play and do not show up within 15 minutes after the set time, your opponent will be awarded 1 point in the series. After another 15 minutes the whole match can be attributed to your opponent (depending on how many bo7s you had planned for this date).
Unfinished matches will be subject to who wasn't available to play. All communication needs to be on the Discord server for this purpose! Failure to do so will result in a random player being advanced.
It's up to you on which server you play. Playing on ShieldBattery is also fine. The game version must be 1.18 or StarCraft: Remastered.
Default turn rate is dynamic. Players can agree on any other TR if they want.
If either player disconnects before the 2-minute mark, the game is replayed. If either player claims to have had a game winning advantage when the disconnect occurred, please contact an admin.
All replays must be saved and uploaded. A place to upload will be provided via Discord once the tournament starts.
Anyone who is participating in the tournament and is listed in the PEP, SDN or OFAC lists is obligated to contact the organiser.
Streaming your games while playing is allowed and even encouraged. For the exception of the grand final.

Big shout out to LML who organizes, admins, casts, watches streams, mods and actively contributes to the foreign scene. Without individuals like yourself, this community would not exist. And you've been doing this for many years. Here's to you my friend. And thanks Windbeachman for co-sponsoring this wonderful event at a time it's needed!

I hope this tournament can also serve as a dedication to one of the greatest map makers of all time and a map that everyone has spent countless precious moments of their lives playing on with other human beings, especially in the 2v2 community. Let's celebrate FightingSpirit together <3
This tour is...something else. I don't know yet if it will be fun to watch and I assume it might get exhausting for the players participating but it's a kind of challenge we haven't seen before.
this will be a shitshow of epic proportions, like any eSports title.. hell, not even any traditional sports, literally never seen.. this needs some serious coverage.. xD
For a moment, I thought you have to play 7x bo7 on sunday starting from 11 cet and was happy to see who is the real maniac. But having 2 weeks for it is not so biggie for many players. You know what, even I may join, since it was my favourite map for playing bbs.
Watching/playing FS that many times is pure torture for everyone involved. But nonetheless, the effort into putting this together is commendable. Especially given the sizeable prize-pool.
Prize pool is so lopsided The same players always come in top couple spots and win money extremely often in tournaments. It would be nice to see other people get to share in the wealth. That's what gets more people interested in playing and practicing and increases the talent pool in the foreign community overall but hey, it's not my money and not my decision. It'll be a good day for Bonyth~
Edit: I'm being nitpicky anyways, I wouldn't be complaining about this if there was no prize money at all! So thanks very much to the sponsors for showing interest in BW and for their generosity.

I 100% agree. windbeachman's request was that the winner takes all. I managed to get him to agree that I can provide additional funding to add prize money for more players. That's one of the reasons why the tournament was delayed to now, as I was applying to eSport.fund for additional funds, instead of only providing my own money.
“ That's what gets more people interested in playing and practicing and increases the talent pool in the foreign community overall ”
I don’t think this is accurate at all. There’s no correlation between prize format and talent pool. And I’ve come up with a number of prize formats to test this hypothesis. Moreover, a large chunk of people don’t even play the game and mostly spectate. If you’re referring to the S rank foreigners, then I’d say many of them would rather beat their most formidable opponents and earn the prize than be handed ‘sympathy’ (“you’re all winners”) rewards.
In BW, as in real life, those who work hardest and are most talented (winners) get rewarded the most. Without the profit/reward incentive, you might actually see a decline in the talent pool a la Bonyth, Dewalt, Mihu, etc.
There’s a number of showmatch series and events that use map win prize system anyways and those are open to most competitive foreign players. BW Jeez Weekly has also been offering prizes to everybody for god knows how long and people are welcome to sign up and try their luck.
If the scene needs anything at all to sustain itself and grow it’s this: more people need to donate and help finance current and potentially new events. $1 donation trains should become a thing. If each person donated a tiny amount, we could finance more events. There’s a huge free rider problem in the bw community (sorry to put it harshly). Those who don’t contribute in kind but follow streams and events incessantly should chip in a little. There’s too few doing too much to keep the foreign scene alive and too many not doing enough. This problem exists in the real world as well and is a major reason why it’s on fire. Some people need to be a little less lazy, selfish and cheap and try to help out more.
