I was expecting the Belgian blonde.
All of my disappointment.

One thing I am not too keen on in 5e is having to choose between feats and ability score improvement. As a character gains experience it seems natural that they would gain strength/intelligence/whatever they use to do the things that gave them that experience. I feel like ability score improvement should be based on character level not class similar to proficiency bonus and 3.5. Feats were, in my opinion, the best way to customize your character and give it focus. otherwise what is to distinguish one character from another from the same limited number of archtypes apart from numbers (and of course story)? Now you may choose to never have any feats? It is possible to go through to level 20 without changing any of your initial ability rolls if you always choose feats? doesn't the ability score improvement seem a little steep? like a race with +2 str could have 24 str (+7) at level 6? these are questions because i've only been reading the free basic rules pdf because i didn't want to torrent it until i could afford to buy a real one but i think im going to be a pirate tonight. + Show Spoiler +unless someone has a link to a non torrent version of the full phb i can't wait to read what the feats are any longer. hopefully there is more information in the full phb that sheds some light on my concerns.

Well, the feats are pretty damn good in 5e, and it is totally possible to get to 20 without choosing to improve an ability score.

That's my biggest hurdle right now - I haven't unlocked 2nd quarter yet. Loatheb is obtainable out of Naxx right? I'm enjoying and having decent enough success with the list I'm running right now, just looking for future things once I've gotten through Naxx. Not craftable.

Many feats also grant ability score improvements as part of their benefit. There are only a few feats that are powerful enough without ability score benefits (e.g. Alert--+5 Init, cannot be surprised/snuck up on while conscious) that don't grant at least 1 point in an ability score.
In general, the flatter skill progression through proficiency bonus, toned down power level of a lot of spells, and less frequent feat/ability progression should be indicative to you of a flatter overall character progression, which is honestly a good thing given the ridiculousness of 3.5.

i agree that it is good for balance/not being broken

Warhammer fantasy sounds amazing. It sounds like it would be like Dungeons and Dragons with all of the madness that comes from Warhammer 40,000. I don't really know anything about Warhammer, so this is just speculation.
Also for those of you who have read the fifth edition of Dungeons and Dragons, I have a question. Did Monks get any better? It was my understanding that in 3.5 Monks were quite literally one of the worse classes in the game.

I haven't played a monk since the early parts of 5e beta, nor do I know what they were like in 3.5, but briefly looking through makes me really want to try one in 5e

It's very hard to judge right now given the overall complexity of all the classes at the moment. Magic still looks to be far stronger at very high levels, the question is where the martial/magic power breakpoint is now.

Got one of my friends to run a 5e, still working on setup.
As an aside, one time a few of my friends were super bored so we played a D&D oneshot with a deck of cards substituting the dice. I was a clerk from a Church devoted to the god of drinking and alcohol, but since my religious beliefs required me to be at least buzzed, people thought he kept saying "cleric." Instead of casting spells I'd give people enchanted "potions" and just had people placebo effect themselves. For example, for Bull's Strength I'd give a lager but others heard logger.

I just want to play Shadowrun. I've never played it and my Wizard gets to go to MIT&T? Sounds like a bonus.

How do I best man at a wedding? I've never even been to one. It's a big honour. Formerly this role was someone who did things like protect the bride from being kidnapped or whatever but I assume that your social life is far less exciting and won't involve the need to do any of that stuff. In which case a lot of your role will be to help maintain order and flow at the wedding. You're a pretty important person so you still have important stuff to do. You know, things like:
- Keep the Groom from having panic attacks (he will probably have at least one);
- Make sure the in-laws are comfortable (especially if they're paying the bill);
- Tell the ushers what to do (cause the DJ got us falling in love again);
- Read that Best Man Speech (but don't do anything cliche or cringe worthy);
- Keep guests honest (they shouldn't be trying to make this day about them because it's all about the special couple);
- Know the schedule and try to keep things rolling (haha good luck);
- Make sure the rings are safe so put them in your inner jacket pocket in an envelope or something and never take off your jacket (because if they go missing...);
- Keep snacks, fruit or candy on you for the Bride/Groom to eat because they'll be busy greeting people and stuff and will be unlikely to actually eat anything most of the day (this is not an official duty but will be really appreciated); and
- Be there when your friend breaks down in tears because he's super emotional (keep spare handkerchiefs and pocket tissues with you at all times).
+ Show Spoiler +Also, don't forget to tell everyone how high your elo is and how you once beat so-and-so at a PTQ before they got famous and how they're suuuuch an upstart and not that great in reality 'cause you gotta show everyone why you're the best man and not only-Rank-6-in-Legends/Challenger/Grandmaster/WoW Arena-man, plus you totally have the cutest Eevee is town ok so that poser on table 5 can go shove it because come on just look at how adorable your one is, I mean, like, oh my gahd.

That spoiler slayed me.
It's more than likely going to be a laid back thing. He's a nerd and she's a comp geek so it's going to be a good time. MTG friends from dallas so we'll see what happens. The wedding isn't until Febuary anyway, I was more like. "Well that's a thing."

Can I hire out MoonBear as a personal life adviser? He seems like he'd be really good at that!
MoonBear! How do I become popular? How do I achieve my dreams?
HOW DO I ACHIEVE IMMORTALITY?
