Hi, I am a starcraft mapper, and the website me and others use to host our maps is a lovely oldschool site, a secret corner of the web. Superouman of Cloud Kingdom fame previously uploaded maps to this site. The starcraft 2 ladder map Nimbus was based on a broodwar map which was uploaded to the site Im talking about.

Its called broodwarmaps.net and was created several years ago, I think in 2005. Its quite simple compared to modern sites. I think its a really important place for us to continue sharing maps. Heres the problem, the site has suffered a security breach. On behalf of the users, Im looking for someone with web dev experience who would like to take a look under the hood and see if he might like to tackle this problem of increasing the security of the site against viruses. The site is maintained by one man and he is going to begin work on the issue tomorrow. He is available through email etc if this is a project you would enjoy helping out with.

I might be able to help out a little bit. Security isn't my main area of expertise, but I know a few things that could help. Other than that R1CH is your best bet on this type of thing

Hi everyone,
I'm the maker of the site and have been neglecting it for years. There were still some active users, but I can no longer be really responsive in case of problems. That's why it might make sense for some entity to take over the daily (more like yearly) technical support for the site or even to move the content and the discussions somewhere else, where the long term availability could be ensured.
Anyway, there should be no need to rush it, as I tried to fix the immediate problems. Login and upload of maps is now possible again. I hope the problem will not arise again, but as I don't know how this was caused, I fear it might happen again...
If you have knowledge of PHP and have the time and motivation to help, let us know.

Thankyou aike, I sent you a PM just before Panschk posted. You have his email now if you want to pursue that. So, the site is working again, yay! Thanks Panschk for fixing it. You did it very quickly, Im amazed. I was expecting it to take several days at a minimum.
And to everyone else, as above, let us know if you are tempted to help improve things. Cheers

Is it possible to merge the site with a SC2 mapping website?
I think the issue is that no one wants to be responsible with day to day maintenance because it can take a lot of effort if there are issues on the hosting side. You need to make phone calls.
