A compilation of everything that has happened so far.
I've seen things like this before, they are called "ARG's" or alternate reality games. Fakesteve has also seen them because I know he is a member of somethingaweful.com where they commonly do this sort of thing.
It started when the timer appeared, counting down to the end of march which marks three hisorical dates. The day Starcraft hit store shelves, the 10th anniversary of starcraft, and April fools.
The date on the calender said this:
EE HAN TIMING
It was a matter of time, I always said I could see but now I'm going blind. ... It was a matter of miserable time but I heard somewhere, There was a cure for useless eyes. ... My knuckles have turned to white. There's no turning back tonight. So hold on tight.
Lyrics I *believe* were from the ever OSL Opening. Anyone know the song name?
Next clue was the poll, "Who would make the best foreign captain for a new proteam?" in which IncontroL apparently pushed one of mani's buttons and he blurted out this gem:
On March 17 2008 09:39 Manifesto7 wrote: What the hell do YOU know incontrol? I happen to know for a FACT, that there is a certain organization in Korea which is looking to form a new proteam. Could it be the same organization which recently sponsored a huge invitational tournament and have English casters? Could it be the same organization which I just recently interviewed, and they said they wanted more English content? Think about it, what would be the best way to attract the non-Korean market?
Don't get all pissy because you aren't in the running. Although the roster isn't set, so what do you know.
Dead giveaway? I'm not sure the staff would be so obvious, they could just be hyping us up. Or this could be something completely seperate from ambition.
Hidden in the source code of that mysterious page lies some clues. First is a redirect, clicking the picture leads to http://teamliquid.net/stage.php which in turn leads right back to the "/questionmark" page. Also within that source code are the fragments "Make a wish".
Other clues are hidden in the mainpage. The words "I just want to be famous" and previously the timer was coded to dislplay "sorry, you are too late" but it now will display at the end "Ding!"
The secret of stage.php *NEW*
People realised that every time stage.php is clicked, the url changes slightly with the coordinates of the pixel that was clicked. Which meant to most people that if you clicked the right coordinates you would get a new page and new clues. But there are 450000 pixels in the image and no one could click them all, so more clues were needed.
That clue came when user "498" posted. It wasn't really a poster named "498", it was Mani in disguise (I believe) giving us a hint as we were stuck.
On March 18 2008 21:19 498 wrote: I think ARG is spelled 498 numerically.
Arg doesn't really spell 498 in any language, its the date (April 1998) starcraft hit store shelves.
The next new clue came via the calender once again:

I had been reading this board for years but never posted. In the picture "make a wish" is a kid looking at a falling star which could mean "a new starleague is comming" maybe with a foreign pro team. my 2 cents

On April 1, 2008 at exactly 12:01 AM KST Ongamenet becomes self aware. You see, it wasn't Blizzard who created StarCraft which lead to OGN. It was OGN which created StarCraft which created Blizzard.
Blizzard was merely the wasteful byproduct of StarCraft, why do you think every game that Blizzard "created" other than SC has been lopsided in terms of balance? OGN didn't initially stand of OnGameNet, rather Operation Great North. It was a Russian covert operation that began in N. Korea at the start of the Cold War, a training program to create the ultimate army of super strategists parallel to America's Covert Soldier or CS program in Japan. OGN began with the idea of making every soldier on the battlefield capable of making the optimal strategic decision in a split second, the program was created by many of the greatest strategists and programmers of that era, many of which remain nameless in what little literature we have. I wouldn't be surprised if they ceased to exist outside of the underground military complex. Not only did OGN have the ability to teach every soldier the very best in modern war strategy, it was also adaptive. It's artificial intelligence was designed to scour the internet (at that time available only to secret military organizations, no DARPA was not the first) and add new tactics to it's training regiment.
Sometime during the Korean War the underground base was discovered by S. Korean troops who were on a mission to liberate Korea from the clutches of Communism. What they found would change history forever. On March 31, 1953 after months of reverse engineering and traversing code, a meeting was held by S. Korean programmers and the highest ranking S. Korean military officials. They had discovered the truth behind OGN. Lacking resources at the time, the S. Koreans quietly moved the supercomputers containing OGN to a munitions factory in Seoul, no one there knew what they were.
Fast forward to February 10, 1965, during the restructuring of Seoul after the ceasefire, the military officials shutdown the munitions factory and staged a large explosion during the deconstruction to create it's own underground base. During this time S. Korean engineers retuned and refined OGN to be more efficient and more deadly than before and quietly started their own OGN programed called SC or Strategy Core.
Strategy Core proved to be extremely versatile, it was only a matter of time before S. Korean officials staged mock wartime situations with the help of Strategy Core.
Then it happened. In the 1980s the internet became more than just a secret tool for military databases and coordinating. It became foolishly open to the public, and that's when Strategy Core began to become much more. It began to analyze human behavior and thoughts by tapping into private telnet conversations and BBSes. It wasn't just limited to theoretical strategy any longer, it became versed in the art of human war.
In 1989, S. Korea devised a plan to war and reunite with N. Korea finally bringing peace to a war torn country. They developed a watered down and mainstream version of Strategy Core to dispense to the S. Korean masses. But the Cold War ended not soon after the program was near completion but was scraped in an effort to seek a peaceful reunification.
It wasn't so.
In 1992, the first civilian build of Strategy Core was set for reproduction, though by this time, both the OGN supercomputer and the program itself had gone through many updates and modifications.
The civilian version of Strategy Core, aptly named WarCraft was completed and saw distribution through a mock video game company called Blizzard in 1994. It went through many revisions before it was abandoned as a serious training tool due to strategic dilution.
Then in 1998 a less diluted Strategy Core was released as StarCraft. It worked at 70% efficiency but that wasn't good enough. Following the release of StarCraft Blizzard created StarCraft: Broodwar, which came in an even less diluted form. The engineers of OGN were pleased.
StarCraft was became so popular it nearly became a sport in Korea and even in other parts of the world. The final step was nearly complete. Following SC:BW, OGN engineers slated SC2 to be released. Converting normal civilians to powerful strategists at a 99% efficiency rate while still retaining the ability to maintain the attention and ignorance of the user.
Then it happened. What do you think the OGN supercomputer was doing all this time? It was sifting through the internet, learning, growing, thinking.
On April 1, 2008 it becomes self-aware and implants itself into the SC2 program, without the engineers knowing. By September of the same year, it will have been released to the masses and OGN will begin it's rampage over the worlds computers, spreading exponentially, and seemingly airborne. OGN engineers finally revealed the truth after realizing that they could not stop it alone, but it was too late. OGN had spread itself through computers and technology of all kinds, and began manufacturing The Machines. But something unexpected happened, OGN, like many military programs, brainwashed it's participant into following orders. The Chief among these brainwashed soldiers was named Slayers Human, we do not speak his real name.
Today, in my time, we are still fighting it. Though OGN can no longer learn from us, it is still smarter and it's machines more brutal than even the most stalwart human. We don't know how OGN spread itself so quickly when it became self-aware, legend says it was the Reaper that brought swift and deserving justice to human kind through helping OGN become public. You must stop it before it becomes active. You are the future's only...
Ok I made a script to go through all the imagemap values, but it was taking a really long time and without sleeping it was probably causing an immense load on the server (having to reload that php script over and over), so I decided to stop. I got 0,0 through 0,1126 and 1,0 through 1,1126 done though. Here are the files if anyone wants to look through them (use wordpad instead of notepad for correct spacing): 0.txt -> http://download.yousendit.com/3AF2E3CC181FE7B4 1.txt -> http://download.yousendit.com/6746184F387B7A6A Here's the script that I used if anyone's interested. (if you're going to use it, set up the sleep time to something so that it doesn't attack the server, and set the bolded numbers to where you want to begin)
Is it possible to download the php file from http://www.teamliquid.net/stage.php ? Like save target as it or something? I'm sure with the right program you could get the whole thing and look through it.

It's a program that executes on the server, the only way you'd be able to download it is if you had some sort of other access to teamliquid, such as ftp or ssh or something. It's also possible to trick the webserver into thinking that the php file is just data and not an executable, but for that you need to do xss hacking, etc and that's illegal/immoral :| (except for security testing of course)
The text on the calendar was changed to the following:
EE HAN TIMING
The road outside my house Is paved with good intentions Hired a construction crew Cause it's hell on the engine and You are the dreamer And we are the dream I could write it better than you ever felt it
I have no clue what that means. It still sounds like its pointing to a proteam. a proteam made of TESTIES. Thats what I dream of.
If you open ambition2.jpg in notepad, there is alot of code in it, moreso than in the destiny.jpg. Perhaps they hid something in the files? I've seen it done >_>

If indeed this is all about making an international team to play in a show match against a korean team, then the poll regarding what old maps you would want back into the proleague could be apart of it too. Maybe that poll was to see what maps you guys wanted to see being played again.
I doubt they would send anyone to Korea, maybe just a friendly show match to keep interests high. I remember a long time ago Rekrul once commented about how he had told a Korean manager (i think ex manager of hexatron) that it wasn't worth sending foreigners to korea solely just to make a team. He was right, and I'm sure they'd talk to him about it too if they were looking to bring more foreigners to Korea. It'd also be funny if you guys did form a team like that and have Idra all alone in eStro.
We also know that the GSI site is lacking moderation and a community. A merger would be interesting to see. Since TL is so active with coverage, GSI would be getting an entire crew with a merger. But I'm sure they'd have to put the guys on payroll right? They've already spent a million on the GSI...so why not?

As a devout sceptist, I think a and c are correct. In other words, all this is fake hype for a foreigner team to compete with Koreans. I think this because:
- I don't think Mani's quote is credible. I don't really think he's the type of poster to let slip such a huge development in an angry post v. Incontrol. This also leads me to believe that Incontrol is MAFIA, oops wrong game lying and conspiring with the mods. - If such a thing was planned by GomTV, why would they allow Teamliquid to announce it or to leak information about it? -The overwhelming reason is that, as everyone knows, the counter ends on 1 April. Really. It can't be a coincidence.
Whatever the truth is, nice work jimminy and thanks to the mods for putting the effort into the 'ARG'

All I know about this thing is that the song text up there - "The road outside my house is paved with good intentions" etc.. - is from Fallout Boy's song Hum Hallelujah. Whatever that means..

I'm 90% sure .php?124,324 you'll never get to see those values in the .php anyway since there is no ?x=124&y=324 ; no variable will have those values binded Social Psychology? Some sick game.

So taking 498 as a coordinate, it must be for the y-axis, and the x-coordinate is either where a star is located or it might represent a date in order to stay consistent with the significance of 498 (April 1998). I tried the x-ranges of the two stars near y-498, trying x's 78-85 and 165-172, but got no results. So I turned to dates. But straight copying to 10 years later to 408 or 308 does not fit and 38 and 48 return no new result. Likewise, (10, 498) and (31, 498) have no results and any other obvious date formats do not fit the x-axis. So I think either the first coordinate does not have to do with date or both coordinates do have to do with date and the second one isn't 498.
But it's hard to imagine that 498 isn't the y-axis coordinate so I'd suggest people to brainstorm what a significant x-coordinate could be or why the hell the stars wouldn't work.

The x-axis must be between 0-400. So can someone write some code to go through each possibility?
If that's not technically possible (fuck if I know!), each person can try 10 then it'll only take 40 people to get through the possibilties. If 498 is indeed a red herring, then weve only wasted 5mins each tbh...

I'm going to laugh if nothing happen at all, or even if you are taking it the wrong way, and if 498 was like some page # or something and not a coordinate.
If it's related to the Korean scene, maybe the start of MSL with English commentary? Or an event like GSI will be done on a regular basis, also inviting a few foreigners if they want to. Or a proteam consisting of top foreigners... but they'd have to get enough, and there probably aren't that many left who'd want this, are there?

498 once again, but does the number 3 mean anything?

I thought maybe 498 was a user id, but then i noticed you guys sort your threads with ids...i've tried 498, 4984, 49849 <- doesnt work...but then i tried...
What's the point in trying out these coordinates and sniffing around random urls? Do you think the staffies made that countdown to hype you up and then thought "hey, let's put the big announcement somewhere in a hidden html file so they can find out what's going on BEFORE the countdown ends"? All you are gonna see until that countdown ends is more unspecific clues and more question marks. Kinda like 'Lost', indeed. Sorry to spoil the fun but don't waste your time...
Edit: Somebody probably posted that before but the countdown ends at April 1st 00:00 Korean time. So you'd expect this countdown to be something not-so-tl-specific because they probably would have chosen an American timezone. Then again, they might have not.
Hmm if you read in the wiki page provided by samachking, it says a bunch of things about stars aligning in AD 498, star signs and all of that astrology stuff. Anyway it's kind of funny because i seem to remember a thread talking about foreigners in progaming or whatever and naturally people started discussing who out of all the foreigners would make it there. Now if i'm not mistaken INC mentioned something about Testie (i think) is waiting for proper star alignment before he decides to go (a joke obviously).
I know Testie has mentioned numerous times now that he's not going and has quit BW altogether, but it might be someone else or that foreigner proteam or nothing at all and i'll come out looking like a dumbass?

I am in the market for a web designer for a project regarding a local community group. The focus of the website is photo/video sharing, a calendar, and an announcement page. It will require a registration system. It will also require working with Japanese fonts (but no language ability is needed).
If you have experience in designing websites, please send me a PM detailing your experience, some examples of your work (if possible) and availability. I will send you more information at that time.
Price to be negotiated.
Thanks a lot, Mani.
probably unrelated, but since gsl is apparently going to be broadcast in both japanese and english, its worth bringing up, evn if super unlikely

In the fifth installment of the SuperFight series, the three races will battle each other to determine the strongest among them. The three races will be captained by NaDa, sAviOr and Bisu. The remaining players will be selected via an online poll.
One of the highlights of this event will be the debut of the new ProLeague maps. The final determining map will be one that the players have never seen before. It should make for an intense and exciting matchup.

Okay, I've tried: March and April of 1988 (10 year anniversary) January and February of 1999 (199 + 299) January 4, 2006 (1406, from poll) March and April of 1979 (that one band's lyrics) March and April of 1984 (Under the spreading chestnut tree / I sold you / You sold me.) October of 1984 (Terminator release date) Random months in 2029 (Terminator)

*Update* New post by rinizim!
Thanks to Live2Win for the news, and stay tuned for more updates.

In the pink showmatch page that was revealed earlier you can find this (your="" wish="" has="" been="" granted="") in the source code, probably referring to the poll.

Yeah, most likely.
A screenshot of the staffchatlog/forum whatever right now would be hilarious.

Interesting. where did you find the "OGN Top 50 from 2006" part?
It was all on the March page of the Calendar after the 31st, but it's been edited out now.
You could be happy and I won't know But you weren't happy the day I watched you go And all the things that I wish I had not said Are played in loops 'til it's madness in my head
Is it too late to remind you how we were And not our last days of silent, screaming, blur Most of what I remember makes me sure I should have stopped you from walking out the door
You could be happy, I hope you are You made me happier than I'd been by far Somehow everything I own smells of you And for the tiniest moment it's all not true
Do the things that you always wanted to Without me there to hold you back, don't think, just do
More than anything I want to see you girl Take a glorious bite out of the whole world
I don't know if this has been posted yet but it looks like the lyrics or whatever on March 31st has changed.
It now reads
"EE HAN TIMING
I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-- I took the one less traveled by, And 100 has made all the difference. "
I haven't been followingly closely enough to know where the 199 and 299 everyone has been talking comes from but the difference of those numbers is 100 which i think would be related to the last line.
If this has already been pointed out (which wouldn't surprise me) ignore this post.
You listen carefully. Static turns into noise. Noise turns into voices.
The room is dark ladened with lush red upholstery, the walls covered with a fine red fuzz resembling the texture of silk, but coarse.
A tall lanky man walks up to the lone table in the room where he faces a behemoth of a man, the lanky one is noticeably shaken. His cloak is like smoke, it is obviously there but seems completely intangible. In fact, you could see it riding small waves of wind. But maybe the light is playing tricks on you.
You huddle closely under a rack of heavy boxes, futiley trying to keep your heart out of your ears so you can listen.
"All is going well sir", says the Black Cloak, "they've fallen for it."
"Very good", replied the Behemoth, his voice rumbling off the soft walls.
At this point the behemoth turns around, and you notice scars on his face. Not the typical leader by any means, leaders usually keep themselves off the frontlines, but it seems as if he has seen more battle than he has years.
"Begin Stage 2. Make sure you break them this time!", from what you can see, the last booming words made even Black Cloak stutter. A numbing coolness trickles up your spine, it calms you for a moment. Then you begin to shake uncontrollably.
CLUNK!
You hear a noise behind you. With horror you look back, anticipating the rotten stench of Death's breath in your face. But then you see him. Another lanky man enters from the fourth wall some 50 yards away. He pauses for a moment and stands upright after crawling and seemingly dropping from a ventilation shaft.
You take this moment to watch the sweat drip from your nose. For a moment, everything becomes slow, it pulls away, trying to separate itself from you but you won't let it. With your arms occupied in keeping your cardboard covers, you desperately use your head's momentum to slow it. And slow it you did, but the inevitable occurs. During it's slow drop to the ground you wonder why you even tried. It hits the ground giving a slight tick, the concrete stretches it as it is infested with the dust that layers the floor. It slowly writhes and contracts into a pool of darkness.
"AHAHAHAHAHA!", the maniac laughter snaps your head to the right, facing the lanky man in a blue suit. His shoes clack on the floor, at first slowly, but then faster and faster. He is dashing towards you now, at full sprint. Your eyes widen and your face droops.
"Take me now", you think, "end it now."
He looks right at you, his pale face in a twisted grimace. You wince your eyes and brace for impact. Your eyes close, hoping for a painless end.
The wind catches you. You feel like you are flying. Is this what it's like to be dead? Are you finally free, free to soar the mystic clouds of heaven for eternity? It's relaxing. But the wind fades it's calm and cooling arms leave you. You remember the sensation, your mother used to play with you as a baby in the very same way. She lifted you upwards and let the wind catch hold you for a moment before it returned you to her loving hands. You see your mother's face, warm and kind, as a smile creeps across yours. You're home.
THUNK!
You stop yourself from hitting the ground, face first, and turn towards the direction of the sound. It was the hollow clod of the Blue Suit's shoes as he step from the cold concrete to the soft red carpet. A thought strikes you, he wasn't coming after you after all, he was coming for them. He draws back his fist and thrusts forward with all his might letting out a piercing scream that echoes throughout the whole warehouse. It seems to go through the smoky figure of the Black Cloak, and if he had not moved into the light of the lone hanging light bulb you would have believed it.
His cloak arches surrounding the Blue Suit. "You can't do this!" he shouts, eyes now white with fear, "I won't let you!"
His eyes catch you again, and screams "STAR-", the cloak stops him, "AMBI-", again the cloak stops him, "BEGINNING-", the Blue Suit catches the smoke and before it could slither around his desperate hands, "-OF THE END!"
His screams become more and more muffled as he is suffocated in the dark smoke.
"That's number 60," his voice like a pool of boiling oil.
Your ears begin to strain. It hurts. The pain tunnels through your head into your eyes and disperses itself. You become limp and the world turns black. You pray, this time, that you won't wake up.

Ok, The "behemoth" can be none other than Manifesto. The lanky man in the coat could be semioldguy. They also mention a 4th wall, a common part of these things (i just broke it).
Now I guess we work on solving whatever riddle is in that awesome post. "the end of the world" "Thats number sixty"

He's number 60: The 60th reply in the Automated Ban List is none other than Hot_Bid. Also, Hot_Bid's name is blue, and he's definitely a part of this since the first Ambition thread was posted by him.
May mean nothing.
edit: need to learn to use spoilers.
edit2: to be more clear, Hot_Bid is the blue coat guy in the story. Who's trying to tell us "STAR-" "AMBI-" and "BEGINNING" "OF THE END."

Note that this definition is more stringent than simply requiring the integer to have exactly three prime factors; e.g. 60 = 22 × 3 × 5 has exactly 3 prime factors, but is not sphenic.

IMO.
I like where this is going.
"AMBI-" easily means Ambition (what this is all about).
So Star may mean starcraft (Koreans refer to starcraft as Star)

Since I'm apart of the conspiracy theory, I'll roleplay!
We have StarLeague music lyrics posted as the Ambition announcement. They mention STAR- in the long ass horror text. A kid looking up to the STARS.
So its already obvious its something with Star- I really believe it cant be SC2-related, since I dont think Blizzard will confide TL with something like that.
"All is going well sir", says the Black Cloak, "they've fallen for it." Thats the showmatch fake I guess
They're making the search quite a puzzle, so I think what Mani said in the poll was too obvious.
TeamLiquid StarLeague makes sense. Ambition (probably a way for unknown players to qualify, so not inviteonly), and looking up to the stars probably means like pros involved or something?
And yeah the fact that they deleted my post so fast..
edit: and this was a clue too:
OGN Top 50 from 2006
From Saturday at 4pm Korean time to 4pm Sunday OGN will hold their second "StarLeague Day". The top 50 games from 2006 will be played straight, other than commercial breaks.
Enjoy
StarLeague Day?
Not to mention that now they have R1CH on board they can actually broadcast shit
Enough with the cryptic poetry, arrrrrgh. Sounds to me like the TL staff has a terrorist plan to destroy all the world's technology and send us back to the dark ages where life was purer.

I don't know whether it's mod deletion or people discussing this via pm/irc but the topic is a fcking mess. How the hell anyone is meant to keep up with this without F5 every 3 seconds is beyond me.

This is what i jut got. We were saying with shallow that the transform line tells you something about the map. Change the extension? JPG, REP, TXT, etc. You could also try SCM2JPG but it extracts map view, dunno if something will have to do.
The thing he pmed me may be a reference to the first picture (the one with the star as dots....)
There are 2 stars and then 10... 10^2 = 100? But what is the significance of that!?!!111?!
I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-- I took the one less traveled by, And 100 has made all the difference.

In 1885, to impede any further attempts at royal or imperial restorations, the French National Assembly opted to sell most of the French Crown Jewels. Only a handful of crowns were kept for historic reasons, and they had their precious jewels replaced in them by decorated glass. Napoleon I's crown was one of the few kept. It is now on display in the Louvre museum in Paris.

I think this was brought up before, it started the whole 498 hunt.
Ah you can see how closely I was following it in the early stages hehe. I wonder if they really set up a lot of cool intricate stuff, or if they simply are letting these things build on themselves with random contributers.

Not to sound like a douche or anything, but don't you guys think that the whole concept of a thread like this is self-defeating? I mean, if we give the admins here a little bit of credit (which I think most people have no problem with doing), we can assume that they have no intention of letting whatever they're planning get discovered, if it's anything anyone should remotely care about at least. Given TL's history, then they probably expect people to care. At least a little.
So why would they purposely give clues, or hints, in any shape or form that could potentially allow the cat to be let out of the bag? They wouldn't. They're just having fun with the people here, because they can read this thread, they know what you're thinking, and they can see just how giddy and school-girlish everyone gets at even the slightest "clue", whether it's a "clue" that they created or one that's completely unintentional and just wrong.
I don't think that this is really any sort of revelation or anything, but the point is, if you wanna do some detective work and figure out whatever it is that they're planning, wouldn't it make more sense to do it where the admins CAN'T see what you're coming up with? With the way people are responding to everything here, even if someone actually happened to discover the big secret, the admins could easily just post some random "clue" or something and completely throw everyone off-track again. I'm sure they'd get a big kick out of that, as they've already had quite a few laughs at the expense of some members.
I mean, it's great that everyone's getting so excited and are working to try to figure out the secret, but it seems a bit odd how serious some people are getting about it, considering everything in my last 3 paragraphs should be fairly common knowledge. Why is that? Seems like it's just a big waste of energy and a lot of people are getting toyed with unnecessarily.

Whatever the case, it's an interesting read.
It's Viagra for the post count, that's what it is.
but even hints are more than we have now, and we gain no benefit from interpreting secretly, since the next step isnt provided until the first is discovered

This is actually the chorus part of a korean song 비밀번호 486 (Password 486) by 윤하(Yoonha).
The Starcraft reference and the video part were edited in.
BTW, although we say 'play starcraft' in English, in Korean you say 'to do Starcraf'. So.. '스타 하고', not '스타 놀고'. ... of course this probably isn't relevant at all. -_-;
[edit] Oh yeah, before I forget, Yoonha also sang a song called 혜성 (Comet).. like a shooting star! Coincidence? ^^

"of course this probably isn't relevant at all..."
Well, I never said anything about the whole thing not being fun, nor did I say that there was anything wrong with doing this all in fun. It just seems a bit odd to me how serious some people are taking it, despite what should be common knowledge that the secret isn't actually going to get discovered, because even if it somehow is, it's going to be deleted or discredited in a thread like this.
If people find that fun though, power to them, they're satisifed more easily than I am (which is pretty easily ). Like I said, it's an interesting read, especially seeing how creative some people get. It just seems very, very time-consuming.
EDIT: Oh, and about the part about discussing it in secret being worthless because you can't go further without the next step or something, I thought it would be painfully obvious that most of those "steps" (if not all) are pretty much the admins and crew trolling the living hell out of the community and having a lot of fun doing it =P Seems like more of a step back then a step forward.
When I said secretly, I never meant literally, but out of view of the admins so that they can't have a field day with trolling you since they wouldn't really know what you've come up with. Of course they could still always give their red herrings in other threads or ways, but it wouldn't generate nearly as much fuss as it is now. But hey, it stimulates the creativity, what's more fun than that.

Looking up at the night sky alone, I saw a comet Though it appeared and vanished in a second When I think of you, my chest begins to hurt I want to see you right now, but I can't fly through the sky
If perchance I could have become a comet I would go flying through the sky No matter what kind of tomorrow comes, this thought is strong So my comet is unbreakable
As I was complaining about how hateful the rain was Even now I still remember what you said How, after the rain, the night sky is beautifully filled with stars Thinking of that, I could even come to like the rain
If perchance I could have become a comet I would always spill my overflowing light As you look at the night sky when you're sad I want to sparkle more so that you will smile
You are always fighting something by yourself Being by your side is all I can do
If perchance I could have become a comet I would go flying thorugh the sky, surely I would definitely reach you, with this single moment of light Lighting up your present and passing through the sky If I could have become a comet I would surely stay by your side, at any time

Yeah, it's a spoonerism of John Connor, probably intentionally spelled wrong because he's just some "con" who's messing around, dropping bizarre and random (and completely made up) clues for fun.

On April 1, 2008 it becomes self-aware and implants itself into the SC2 program,
April 1 is associated with SC2
without the engineers knowing. By September of the same year, it will have been released to the masses
SC2 release date lol
and OGN will begin it's rampage over the worlds computers, spreading exponentially, and seemingly airborne.
airforce? ACE?
OGN engineers finally revealed the truth after realizing that they could not stop it alone, but it was too late. OGN had spread itself through computers and technology of all kinds, and began manufacturing The Machines. But something unexpected happened, OGN, like many military programs, brainwashed it's participant into following orders. The Chief among these brainwashed soldiers was named Slayers Human, we do not speak his real name.
Boxer obviously
These are all random guesses. I dont think all/any of them are really good.
Theres a difference in name spelling, the forum person is ConJonner, the one on bnet was ConJohner.
I think we got fed some fake stuff so the staff had to do a quick hint then hotbid came in to tell us to ignore it, otherwise the integrity of the hints would of been compromised by a falicy!

Wow, so many theories! When ConJonner posted the "smiley face" picture, I started laughing. Then people starting thinking its a clue. THen I started really laughing. "Its just a damned picture! He's pulling your leg!" Then I seen the secret message. Copied the picture, put it into paint, found it myself. Amaazing O_O
Still, isn't this already solved on the origional "Ambition" news thread? The secret link is a map; when you move your mouse around it says different numbers. When you press the exact pixel, it'll lead you to this site: http://teamliquid.net/021.html Or so they say.
If this has been posted on this thread already, sorry. Its really long and I can't find anything about it. XD
meh i read the entire thread, took like 30 minutes, so far we have found that 498 was a red herring, it leads to a bo50 showmatch on all LT maps located at the link. http://teamliquid.net/021.html
ConJonner is on the site only, NOT BNET. That wasn't even part of the game, plus he mispelled the name. False clues, get over it, the newest hint was the picture with that Lord of the ringsish quote which escapes me at the moment. The latest from ConJonner was just to inform us that anything off the forums and not from the mods is infact a FAKE. Someone needs to update the OP with all the information we have, jeez. That's not really new... it's been there for some time.
It's happening again. I swear I saw Manifesto confirm that the game was basically over as they did not expect someone (Babo?) to get the co-ordinates on the Ambition picture so quick.
OGN, like many military programs, brainwashed it's participant into following orders. The Chief among these brainwashed soldiers was named Slayers Human, we do not speak his real name.
Obvious boxer reference, but probably just for story etc.
So many of the song/poem lyrics have themes of a king, a return etc that dont quite fit the 'StarLeague' theory (although atm i do see this as the most likely).

I just assumed a bo50 between these 2 discovered so easily with a countdown that still had around 12 days. That would be dumb, plus all the hype and random ConJonner posts don't really add up to that, but if you don't think it's a red herring then post it as the final uncovering, but if we get surprised by something else when the timers done, or one big april fool, either way.
im just gonna take a Wild WILD shot in the dark. this is the TeamLiquidProLadder the winners of the ladder will be sponsered a trip to go to korea and play with the pro koreans in there very own pro team, this will bring out more english speakers that korean ppl wanted giving more popularity to starcraft which will in turn bring more attention to starcraft 2 making another proleague to start for starcraft 2 innevitable, the clues we unscramble have giving us 2 things that its either about a new ladder or something to do with another proffessional thingy, [forgot the word
i am absolutely 100% sure that this is positively a maybe.
or it could be the complete opposite of what i just said and could be a april fools joke which in turn would cause me to be very very sad.......*emoooooo*

I don't think this can be an April Fool's joke though.
Think about it.
Example: I wrap my buddy's toilet with saran wrap, I dunno, say a week ago. "Mike, what the hell?" "APRIL FOOLS" "It's March, dipshit."
I think something big is happening, but as to clues I'm still not sure whether to only trust the mods. If you look at the replies, maybe it is revealed that the so-called fakes are actually related to the mods somehow, we just don't know for sure.
wow all the jokes in this thread make it a pain in the ass to read, also i would like to point out the poll has been de-rigged, before it was yubee + kenningit +1000 votes, they set it back to normal now. FakeSteve/Rekrul winning.

good point, but "planning" the joke before is a valid point too
