To me it seemed like he knew that Casy wasn't FEing within a few seconds, but that was enough to delay his second sunken by a few seconds enough for Casy's rush to be successful. July still had enough stuff to hold off Casy, even in the first attack. If either Casy had bad firebat positioning or had he targeted the single medic with sunkens before sending his lings in, he could've held it off with little losses.
Well that one split second when he thought FE was all that Casy needed imo. The sunken was built only a couple of seconds after the attack, and the second and third were no where near close to being built.
If he did go the build July thought he did, those lings would have been enough to block and counter, but because he faked it, he chose lings instead of sunks, and realized what happened a split second too late.
One hilarious thing I found was that the commentators had literally NO CLUE why Casy sent those SCV's to mine. I figured it out as soon as I saw it, but they were like "huh? Is that a mistake? How can you make a mistake like that?" One guy actually attempted an explanation saying something like "Sometimes you can get your hotkeys mixed up and chose your workers instead".... meanwhile i'm screaming "YOU DUMBASSES HE'S TRYING TO FAKE FE!!!" and then right when Casy is at July's door, one guy finally suggests it and they all slowly start to realize the brilliance of that "mistake". Really OGN commentators can be really clueless (MSL commentators are much more understanding of the game).
As for Midas picking Savior, I don't think he was exactly disrespecting or anything, I think he was in a dilemma.
On one hand, he knew he wanted to beat Savior in a straight up match VERY BADLY especially after that MSL loss. If he didn't pick him, who knows which bracket they'd end up in, they may never play and he may never get his revenge again (especially with SKT1's gay 1 starleague rule).
One the other hand, his chances of beating Savior is probably better in a bo5. 3 out of the 4 maps seem to be imbalanced for Terran, and in a bo5 one of those maps would be used twice, giving him a good advantage... then there's the fact that it's monster savior, and to play him now is pretty much challeging yourself early.
He wants to play him very badly, but he's also afraid of him. He wants revenge, and if he missed this chance he may never get it back...
What I want to say is, it wasn't a "should I take an easier route or a harder route?" decision, it was more of a "should I take this chance, or take that chance, either way could turn out badly".
|
Talking about midas stimming twice in the game, what if he did not make that mistake? will he be able to kill those sunkens? I counted midas has 10 marines, 2 medics and 1 Firebat at the starting time of the attack, 3 more firebats joined later. Savior has 4 sunkens ready, with 1 more morphing, and some dancing drones. What would happen normally?

hahahahahaha iris stands no chance against zergman

Nada vs savior final would be great, a rematch of the superfight. I'm not too worried about Savior making the finals, but Nada may have trouble against yarnc. His zvt is no joke.

Wow. The "Omg July is a noob; No he is not" debate (with remarks such as "grow a fucking brain please") makes TL.net's look very immature and less enjoyable to read.

thats true, iris's tvz is his rather poor matchup, and zergman has been playing great lately. zergman could be the dark horse to win this whole thing, although i would doubt that would happen.
unfortunatly for casy, he is going to have to face nada in the semi's, and i doubt he will be able to beat him. hopefully it wont be as bad as nada vs. goodfriend last osl (i doubt it will be).

tvz iris sucks on big map, not bad on small map i think

Whatever happens I just don't want a ZvZ final

Nada is not playing like the Nada of last OSL. Granted, his last game against Up was well played, but if you consider how brilliant Casy's been playing this OSL, my money's on him if they meet.
Zergman has chances to win, but Yarnc would have to make the finals.

I like Casy but he won't trick NaDa. IF anything, the last game has proven that even when confronted with an inferior position he comes out on top. Rarely, do tricks work on him. He has too much experience to lose to such things.

I dunno, last time I saw Casy TvT (vs. Oov in a very long bo5), it was absolutely sick. I don't even know if Nada at his best would be considered a favourite over Casy at his best. Casy's TvT is not tricky, just cool and aggressive

Nada at his his best is a favorite over anyone. Fortunately for Casy, Nada isn't even close to how good he was 2 years ago (or is it more now?). I still think Nada is the favorite over Casy though.

Nada at his best is not favorite over Savor. One way or another Savior owns Nada and always will pwn him. There has never been player that can own Savior at this shape. That gamer maybe will appear from shadows and I hope he will play toss.

You have to be fucking kidding with me. Nada? at his best? favorite over anyone? Yes?

pd: I had to pull a Peruvian-kind of style post~.

Up did have the superior position, but it was more him throwing it away with a weird build than Nada playing that brilliant (he did play well though, as I said). The thing is, Casy's TvT isn't really built on tricks as you make it out to be, but rather on nonstop aggression and completely controlling the pace of the game.
