So I was looking through the random stats at MLG and I got top 10 fastest APM at the event http://pro.majorleaguegaming.com/news/mlg-anaheim-sc2-stats
My Battle.net Name is Toasty I didn't make it very far only got 2 rounds into winners and 2 rounds into losers but over all the experience was great.
Yeah I thought it was pretty funny when I saw this. I really like to play as fast as I can, I think my biggest playing issue was that I was over aggressive and on the first day you end up playing tell after midnight so I was just kind of wanting to get back to the hotel. I suggest anyone of any skill level go in and try, you don't even have to take an series just taking a game off people is pretty cool.

is this adjusted from blizzard apm to real apm? because it seems rather low
|
No, this is Blizzard APM.
|
Haha 320 times blue flames researched. And what are the selected players?
|
Probably just random listings of top players that didn't make the top 10 APM Chart
|
Wow Boxers average apm is quite low. I think that makes his run that much better.
|
This looks like Real APM. I have a bunch of progamer replays, and players like naniwa, if I take the APM that SC2Gears gives me, and transform from Game APM into Real APM, the result is extremely close to these figures.
|
Apparently according to Naniwa, merz inflates his APM by spamming stuff at low points in the game bringing his apm to 4000 for a lil bit. Thorzain did it in the latest TL attack that Naniwa was hosting.

KKorange is 14 or 15 I believe.

Well. This is a bit surprising when you compare it to BW players like Hiya, Hero, with 450 average apm. Calculation difference?

White-ra and Boxer showing the world, that what oldies lack in speed, they make up with manner and special tactics. Also, this is Blizzard apm because mma will not have dropped 100 between mlgs.
MVP and mma also show that amongst the top 20 (besides drg), they have the highest apm. This makes me think they have the best effective apm and also they have the best multitasking. Other people may have higher apm, but you never see MMA fly a medivac into a turret which is what Select did vs a lot.

You spelt "speshul tektics" wrong.
Stats pages are always fun for games, even for bad games like CoD.

Boxer at 150? Man, that's pretty low, even for him..
|
Me and white-ra have about the same APM. If only I was half as good as he is.
Gratz on finishing in the top 10 at MLG ;p

Thanks, glad I am good at spamming :D

By the way, these stats about APM/Win correlations are misleading:
It's easy to prove and test for yourself, that the same player tends to get lower than his average APM when losing and higher than his average APM when winning. The reason isn't the APM itself, but the way the game went - losing means lower army numbers, which leads to lower APM.

I am pretty certain that more actions are counted as 'actions' in SC1 compared to SC2, though I am not aware of specifics (And of course the game has stuff like no automine, most people don't use F2-5 for map positions, MBS, etc). Also, make sure to remember that the 'minute' of the 'Action-Per-Minute' itself is different, lol. You have to Divide by .7 if I remember correctly.
When I play BW as Terran my APM in BWChart is always around 130-150 (Feeble to say the least) when it usually just breaks 100 as a Toss player in SC2. 100 divided by .7 is about 142 so that sounds about right, keep in mind that I haven't played SC1 in a while and I've always been garbage at it and always will be .

When I known I've lost I might noticably slacken my hand speed, but if I look at the replay at that time period, even if the 'losing period' is 3 or more minutes long (quite a while) the average APM for the game won't decrease more than 5 or so.
Or maybe I'm reading your post wrong lol.

I think you are reading it wrong - he's just saying that with less stuff to control, the less actions (and hence APM) you'll use controlling it.

New goal for MLG scrubs: Enter and simply spam as fast as possible to make the top 10 APM list!

It's interesting to see the APM of MMA relative to soem other people, he seem slike he is cruising at like 300 + when dropping, and i wouldnt be surprised to see that at all. Either way, consistently getting things done ingame that need to be done when they need to be done is a such a strong point for some players. It's a real treat to see taht in action when players like MMA or MVP are player TvZ

On August 12 2011 23:47 zeru wrote: If only there was a way to measure something like effective APM Yeah, I've been saying this for a while but top players like MMA and MVP use their APM so much more effectively and when it matters to multitask. Just watch their pov and you'll understand that their APM is still riding at 250 when they're doing important tasks like switching back between their drop and their main army and they're managing their army with their apm rather than just selecting their ball and spamming clicking in one spot.
