Man, that's awesome, I really really thought this guy was dead meat now but he makes me lose liquibet points. Awesome! He did show a glimmer of resurfacing a few years ago but he got ousted quick. I wonder if he'll make one more OSL...

He earned that name because of his uncanny ability to read his opponents and dictate the flow of the game. In his day, nobody could contend with him because of that and no other progamer has shown that same sort of amazingness. Boxer was also very strategic and very good at reading his opponents, but he was always lacking in dictating the flow of the game (he would either win fast or fight long uphill battles). July is really good at keeping the pressure up and dictating flow through pressure, but he hasn't shown that same reading ability -- he just wins games through pressure and technical play. Xellos 62.6%. Boxer 61.0%. Yellow 61.6%. what the hell? what do you know about how much they're able to read their opponents? being able to read an opponent goes far beyond whats obvious to the spectator. not every read results in a huge change in gameplan, such as oov countering jju's drop in SKT1 vs samsung khan ace match. perhaps july read pusan perfectly in their recent semifinal series. maybe he chose to pool first every game because he knew pusan was going to either try cheese or fast expo instead of playing straight up. btw i think july's extra aggressive style requires MORE of an ability to read an opponent. a lot of his builds are somewhat do-or-die, and for a style of play like that, you need to know exactly what your opponent has/is doing to be as successful as he is. did you watch july vs stork in shinhan group stages? he read stork's build and intentions perfectly and raped him with an all-in ling attack. stop bringing up irrelevant win percentages. nada's win percentage relative to july's has nothing to do with their ability to read opponents.
