Well after a month of no bw i can give you these upsides:
You have moore time to do better things then waste all your teenage years infront of a computer. Your grades go upwards. Your social life gets better, if you havent wasted those things already by playing computer. You learn moore. You get other influences then just sitting in front of computer playing games all day. When you read THIS do this on impulse as i did: Take the CD out of the computer, break it, and then do something that you actually can use later on at life, like school, drawing, reading etc.
Downsides of quitting bw: Well its fun, but try playing a few years, then stop, and then think about if gaming has given you anything ?
And think about this, what choise would you have done? 5 years infront of computer, or five years doing something other ?

1) Eject BW CD from disc tray 2) Snap it with a vigorous motion
OR
go to SCA
Starcraft Anonymous

I tried to quit for a long time.
The best thing for me to do was unplug my CD rom drive. Because i'd be far too lazy to want to plug it back in when I was doing school work.

if bw is having that kind of an impact on your life, you're the problem
i've been playing this game for like five years now, just gaming or fucking around when i have nothing better to do
if something better comes up, i go do it
pretty easy

Well, for me? SC helps me get my mind going, since it is a thinking game. So SC in moderation = good for you.

I dont understand. How come so many use your CD-ROM?
virtual CD a la daemon tools is the shit.

SCBW Addiction control?
-the ultimate process, that will simply close starcraft right after you run it? Maybe it should be paid...

My friend used to play alot of bw, he used to tell me all the time that bw was the worst drug. So he got addicted to weed to break his bw addiction ~~

its a game, you grow oout of it or you don't its not a job -.- if you have a problem leaving a GAME then you have other problems that need to be attended to. I love the game and such but the moment it hurts my grades im done with it.

Cmon guys, addiciton to SCBW is not that bad as to WoW.
|
I truly believe that it can cause a terrible, terrible addiction. I stopped playing about a year and a half ago only to start back up about 2 days ago while at home from school. Trying to quit is so hard but I'm gonna try not to play it any more after today. I wish I knew what Blizzard puts into their games that makes them so addictive...

uninstall and leave the cd somewhere you cant remember

I quit playing BW active in April, which is quite some time ago now, I just wanted to share my experiance.
A hell lot of more freetime, but you dont really do anything special, your like reading a book, talking on MSN or watching a movie instead. As for grades.. No changes, school have never been a problem even when I played BW all day.
Some positive things tho, I really started to "get" my driving license, because before I was to busy with playing BW so that I would do that insead of being out on the roads driving. I started to work out when I quit BW, mostly to do something else, and I am up to 5 times/week now with a quite tough schedual.
Downsides? It really is fun to win games and to improve, also losing contact with some old BW friends is quite harsh.
My conclusion: It doesen't matter if you play BW or not, aslong as you dont stay in playing BW instead of going out with friends or messing up school.
And for those who wish to quit, find something else to take up your time, start working out a few days a week, and when you feel the urge for playing BW, watch a movie, play some other game or just go and read a book. Getting past the first week is the hardest, I watched OC season 1,2 and 3 from the minute I got home to when I got to bed, which kept me away from BW for a few days, after that it wasn't that hard, even tho I admit, I was cheating some and I did play some games every now and then, and I kinda always had the thing "one day I will come back" but now 4 months later, I am thinking of it, and hell I even tried to "come back" but I dont think I will. I am afraid to get as addicted as I was before, because it didn't harm me directly, but he kinda tied me up and I dont want it to happen again. And I kinda reached my goals, SWE-A and go to some other country playing a tournament/meet forgein ppl! Remember folks, goals are important what you wanna achive with what you are doing and what you are willing to sacrifice to get there!
Anyway, it's more than I first was about to write, but I kinda got carried away to share my feelings about the game I spend so much time with. I hope it was to use for someone out there to make a decision!
