Anyway, I can't really help you, I don't 2v2 much despite BLuNTY's constant begging to. Just about the only AT I'll play is 3v3, and that's because I have/had several top ranked teams, but our team kinda disbanded so I stopped that too. But there are plenty of people on Battle.net that do enjoy 2v2, depending on what sever you are on there are lots of channels to go to. Just ask around on Battle.net, it'd be better than on a forum (since on Battle.net you can at least have some way of judging them via profile).

It's not BW, but it IS one of the top competitive games world-wide, like it or not.

This is true, but $7k? That would attract people from all over the world, or at least top USA players, even split into multiple tournies (which I assume would be the case). I realize there are underground tournaments and such, but anything with large amounts of cash, or areas who frequently have events shelling out large amounts of cash, don't stay underground for long. I think you were getting lied to a little. I travelled many places in the country over the summer for War3 (not as a competitive player, however), and I can recall nothing that would total up to even half of that. Though I don't mean any offense, this in particular I find very, very skeptical, for a number of reasons. However if it is true, then that's all good because that is exactly what gaming needs. But unless your friend is someone like MaDFroG or equivalent, you're getting lied to. $7K is a LOT of money, even split up into 50 tournies, they don't stay underground for long.
