I would like to make it clear now that if enough people support me going to a starleage and casting it, i would be happy to do so (assuming OGN would let me and ITG could send me).
ive set up a petition to show our support for Tasteless being sent to cover the Proleague Finals.
I encourage all of you to sign it, maybe throw you tlnet screen name and real name on there too.
Tell your friends, family, teachers, dog and dealers about this and lets make this happen.
By nature I'm a very skeptical person, so I'm hoping that the effectiveness of this petition will surprise me. Please keep us updated on the status, too.
On December 14 2006 19:36 Kennigit wrote: im gonna send it to djwheat and the boys at ggl and itg and hope they have connection with OGN through WCG work.
we got tasteless and his dad on there now ^-^
If Tasteless goes, you better believe I'll find a way to go aswell =]... I'm currently the only person in iTG/GGL that I know of with any connection to OGN, and I haven't heard from them in quite a while. The odds of this working out are very low, unless you can get big support.
As a member, fully supporting this I did a translation of the petition, obviously meant for the Korean broadcating stations. I know there are many capable of the translating. But, just a thought.
And, also we have to consider that the Finals for this Proleague will be mainly held by the MBCgame, and not Ongamenet, although Ongamenet will broadcast it also. So I do not know which will be better, to burden MBCgame with our petition since they are the one reserving the stadium, and preparing the final, or to bring this to Ongamenet who will relatively be more accessible. I guess contacting both station would be better. Despite the different circumstances the both stations are in for this finals, there is no doubt that this is an attractive proposal for both of them, nonetheless.

i think this could really use a more detailed explanation of what he would be doing there and how it would benefit all parties involved (particularly OGN/MBCGame). if he's commentating, who sets up the equipment, preferably provides him with a translator, who broadcasts the english cast, and what do they get out of it?
not to say that it wouldn't work, but i don't think the petitionees would be convinced by what's there so far.

Nick and I both talked about this for a while, and the conclusion we came to is.. The only way it won't happen, is if OGN just doesn't have a way for him to cast in english there.. Everything else seems to be in motion (because of previous stuff him and I have been doing)
Signing will help though, because it will show the OGN executives that there is a big market outside of korea willing to pay and pay attention to what is going on. What Nick (Tasteless) is doing, is a step up on plans I had in the works, and if he can get it to go. The world of Starcraft will never be the same, because it will bring upon a new era.
That was ITGs Bryan Wood on gosugamers
Obviously plans are already being looked at on Tasteless's side so if this petition can act as a support for that then we dont need to be too worried about translator, equipment etc.
Just keep getting everyone you know to sign and all should be well
isn't there a petition site out there that at least watches ip addresses? i dunno if they'd take this seirously or not if everybody can just sign twice.
maybe the petition should be rewritten. korean companies hardly make any money off of us, so the only reason for them to do this would be if it would upset their korean customers.
a more modest request (instead of a demand) might be more pleasing to their ears.
"We the undersigned wish to show our support for Nick "Tasteless[9] Plott to be funded to travel to South Korea to cover the Sky ProLeague Finals."
i dont think thats demanding. Were not trying to make OGN's decision here. At best Nick can use this as a medium of support in his discussions with OGN to go over there.
And i agree that OGN makes no money off us, but maybe if the koreans see the light of the western world in spreading the proleague abroad they'll take up this oppourtunity.
1. Kennigit Actually, he's very tasty, (if you know what i mean) 7. Nick Plott it's me tasteless LOL! 19. Stephen Costello How could you not. 31. Kyle by!!! All gosu add me bw josh_kasper36@hotmail.com
As such, we feel it in the interests of ITG, the GGL and OGN to support not only their services, but the English speaking Starcraft community through Mr. Plotts performance.
In furthering the professional gaming community in the western world, opportunities such as this are valuable to fans and broadcasting companies such as the previously mentioned.
lmfao nice job :p yeah unfortunately petitions online doesn't let you edit the comment so it would mean completely remaking it and having all the signatures again :p.
My intent is just for tasteless to go "oh and btw here is a list of x # off people who support me doing this" to the powers that be
+1 , 260 so far.Maybe we should donate 2$ each for the plane tickets to korea if ITG doesnt send him. Afterwards lets hope he can find a way to survive(maybe he would like to stay there forever)

That would be me, and I posted here as well. Though PR is right, the odds of iTG putting up the funds are low.. It would be like the Raven situation of trying to get him sent over to do that. It's not impossible to say the least, and if it happens =]
its been up since last night 404 ppl...considering this has been up 12 hours that not too shabby i suppose. But considering the tl community is in the thousands we definitely need to keep spreading the word
If iTG isn't sending him why OGN would? Their main group of viewers isn't foreigners really, like, at all.
And, well, a lot of the signers are using nicknames/first names which doesn't make the petition that convincing. Maybe I'm just too pessimistic but I can't see how this would work out. :/
ok,I hate to be a party-pooper but before my signature, I have some questions to ask ,Is StarCraft very popular over North America? How many people or students in the high schools and Colleges are playing it now?Acutally I think this thought is a little impulsive.Reasonably speaking,Compare with your enthusiasm and zeal love of SC,I think South koreans will put much emphasis on your capacity of defeating your rivals in the matches. You have to prove yourself through some broadcast matches against some Korean superstars like Boxer and Reach .Lx and Pj(they signed respectively a contract with the SKTelecom Team1) are the best instances ,they get the tickets to SouthKorea through their exercellent performance in the 2005 CKCG games. And whether you can adapt yourselt to a new environment is still a question. So far Lx and Pj has not act very well in korea due to cultural and language barriers.I dont want to disencourage your determination ,but I suggest you should take every pitfall into consideration.

....maybe we should start another petition to have his Day[9] go play for skt1 :p

Surely there are ppl here with connections to progaming, wufan & PJ, rekrul, leg and the other former pro's must still have contacts at thier old teams. If this get really big and is maybe more professonally worded and backed then getting the attention of the korean bigwigs shouldn't be too hard, but 1,000 ppl really isn't THAT many, i doubt many koreans would care about an english shoutcast but why not.
also could ppl stop posting signed, it makes the thread really long and dull. Maybe it's just scroygey old me that gets annoyed, if you think it is go ahead and merryly ignore me

bah. i fucking emailed those tools twice last week with the information they wanted and i guess their "support" service is on crack or something. Ive emailed them again so hopefully it will get through
i tried signing that petition but every time i got some text saying users that have aim running can't sign it due to some security problems or w.e-even when i closed my aim the same thing popped up so i gave up
Maybe if we all pitched in to send Tasteless there for the first time, it might give us some credibility and we can obtain sponsorship next time? I'd be willing to give up a few bucks to send Tasteless to Korea.

Wow, this is amazing to see given current events. I'll admit were I on TL at the time, I'd have signed it, but would have been massively skeptical that anything would come of it. Who knew that just a year later, Tasteless would be casting the GOMTV Classics and now the GSL Major props to all that were passionate about SC esports for outside of Korea so many years ago. We're living a dream.
On the other hand, it would still be awesome if Tasteless casted the OGN's starleague every now and then- BW lost most of its English casters after SC2
This petition worked so well that he never came back from Korea.
Some of my favorite parts of this thread were seeing Kennigit asking for a mod to post it in featured(how surreal).
Also the comments on DJWheat being not so great a caster is kind of funny. Reminds me of the caster criticizing we see today and look what happened there, he's kind of a legend now.

Wheat was a boss well before 2007, though he may not have spent as much time learning BW as he has SC2, in terms of casting.
I doubt this will work, or give any results. Too few people, too few signatures and the TV station isn't going to win anything (they can't sell ads. in non-Korean countries, too few viewers (signatures) making it hard to justify a caster's salary). Still has my signature, for all it's worth.
Hahahaha that's so awesome...imagine Tasteless casting PL... that would be a dream. I don't know if he can reach the pitch required to yell GG though, Broodwar style. Would definitely take some training. Even though 5 years old.... SIGNED!
SPEAKING OF GG
Start 1:00 in! This is the GG I'm talking about. Best gg timing ever.

No, i just remembered that we made this petition in 2006 and were like...god this will never work, and then like a 8 months later he got hired to do avertec intel classic . I had no intention of trolling - basically everyone in this thread who "signed", couldn't be arsed to read or figure out the context
I got trolled. I was like "I don't know what that is, but I've gotta help Tasteless! His voice and confidence have gotten so much better in casting, *warcry*!"

but an interesting sociological poll imo. If you could find out the number of people who voted the past day, it'd be even more interesting

Well look on the bright side, at least all the people claiming troll are doing so because they were excited about the idea, even if they weren't aware enough to understand what happened.
It's gotta be good to see that years later there is still a lot of support from the community even if it was misplaced.
Wow, this is awesome. I definitely signed and am going to get A LOT of my friends to sign this. Hopefully this new starcraft 2 tournament will be sucessful, and even though I don't know a lot about it, hopefully we can send tasteless to "pro league"

I'd sign a petition today to have tasteless casting Proleague now. I love the old thread bumps where loads of people don't bother reading the dates. Still the GOM Classics were awesome, so it kinda worked.
I signed this earlier hoping that my signature would cause a new universe to form in which Tasteless had gotten to go cast. At least me in some universe would have been happy :D

Fear not tofu! If the latest multi-verse theories are correct, every thing that can happen, does happen, somewhere.... millions of alternate tofu's got to see tasteless cast that finals, you just weren't one of them ;p
I know a lot of the people on these boards share the same gratitude to tasteless as I do. I had played starcraft for years but it wasn't till WCG 2006 with draco vs midas that I had really watched a pro match and thoroughly enjoyed it. He brought something extra that other casters did not. He made this fastest map possible/BGH/customs noob want to learn more about 1v1 and learn the game. He's the reason I came to this site, he's the reason I've studied the game for almost 5 years now, he's the reason I've watched every Gomtv game since the invitational, he's the reason I watched every korean BDUB pro match for 2-3 years and would wake up or even stay up till 3am just to catch these matches live.
Tasteless, we love you and keep doing what youre doing man. Down the line there's gonna be someone just like me, who started watching you when SC2 season 1 started, talking about how they dedicated all their free time to sc2 because of you. You are a pillar to esports and you've made it happen in a big way, Thank you.
This just really shows how much the community and specifically this site has grown because of the dedication of people that have been around for 5+ years. cool stuff.
Yea, iunno why so many people yelled troll lol. It's kinda hard to troll when there's a giant OLD POST tag on the bottom of the OP. Not to mention the 2006 date on the post lol.
