Well, Quintana was far and away the better long term climber than Froome. Had Quintana not got caught out in that split he would have been our yellow jersey.
Bad bike racing to get caught, but when it comes to mountains and w/kg fun, Quintana was the solid winner even with Froome's insane team support.
Really nice to see Q do everything he could to win the stage, but unfortunately with a 40 min climb 2:40 is just way too much time to eat into unless Froome totally cracked. He rode pretty weak today, but didn't come absolutely unhinged. Future years will be tougher for Quintana, but he is clearly the worlds best climber, and if he improves at all over the next few years, a very realistic possibility at his age, then he might be able to win the tour even if it features a more typical 30-40km TT.

Proof it was "impressive"

Then consider Quintana was just on tempo except an attack or two until about halfway when he finally got daylight and got into hammer mode.

And not on dope presumably

Why presume? It is pro sports and cycling in particular is sensitive to doping and the risk of getting caught using blood doping is small. Besides, they have experience on Movistar how to dope and how to avoid detection, which is theoretically very possible but may be tricky when trying in practice.
Only person on that list faster than Quintana who isn't certain to have been on EPO is Sastre.

Quintana's time was pretty remarkable, but he is a climbing specialist so if anyone could compete with doped times while clean it would be him. I mean, he is tiny (listed at 130 lbs) and has a VO2 max of 86 if you believe his coach. Now, if Quintana starts competing with the world elite in time trialing as well...that is when I get suspicious.
Anyway, the Quintana Froome battle in years to come should be a spectacle.

Dammit Coquard, stop starting late D:
EDIT : ROFL Peter Fucking Sagan

Sagan is awesome, and did an amazing effort this tour as well. props to him for not being boring

Well, there are only two ways to do that.
1) Magic with position on the bike and CdA - this of course would not be indicative of doping as it isn't cheating to get a better position. 2) More power - If Quintana put out more power...well its safe to say his amazing climbing ability gets into absurdist territory.
So in my opinion you don't really even have to look at the TT.
FYI: Quintana is 56kg, aka 126lbs.

Well, loss of TJVG cratered my fantasy team. I dropped from in contention with a team of climbers to near the bottom. Ouch.

I was wondering whether it was a gun reference, or what I originally thought and still like better, a champagne spraying!

2nd place, very fitting since MKP is my esports idol

Well done Froome, a worthy winner! First rider since Eddy Merckx to win GC an KoM, just shows how tough this tour was, a real classic.

Who were the "some cyclists" that got turned into excellent climbers?
The only 3 who did well in the mountains were Thomas (2nd week peak held on as long as he could but still some years to go until a 3 week GT rider if he gets there); Porte (performed probably worse than expected, had 2 great stages helping Froome and failed countless times...he was supposed to be the 2nd gun behind Froome but the fact that he was peaking for the Giro probably had its impact despite the early exit); and Poels (who was never a bad rider and had a great last week, mainly 2 great stages helping until he could). None of them were performing beyond what is expected of them and none of them were not good climbers to begin with (a case could be made against Thomas but he has been working on this for quite some years already and was only there for so long due to a hope for a top10).
Froome did the same as he did in 2013, great first 2 weeks and managed to hang on in week 3.
All in all, it was a nice Tour. I'm sad for my fantasy team, the lack of Martin made a huge dent in my team. Plus, my sleeper bets in Kelderman and Peraud failed big time
Nevertheless, it was a great Tour, hope to see you all next year (assuming no Vuelta thread and no fantasy league for la Vuelta ).
GGs!

Yep, GG's guys! I'm quite happy winning ^__^
See you guys next year, or during the Vuelta.

Oh, there will definitely be a Vuelta thread.

Cheers guys, looking forward to the Vuelta thread. I had a lot of fun checking my tour manager team, eventhough I didnt perform all that well.
Note to self, put Sagan on my team :D

Happy with third given that Costa and Martin crashed out. Next year I know i need to go Sagan-- there's no way around it. Quintana, Nibali and Rolland all delivered in some way by the end of the tour... shame Geraint Thomas fell apart week 3 or my team would've been powerhousing
