========================================================================== == . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Interview. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . == ==========================================================================
-How does it feel to win ▶First and foremost, I’m really happy. It was very hard while I was practicing and it’s kind of mysterious how I won. When I got the GG, all I could think of is that I won. When I won I was really happy but now I’m calmed down a bit.
-You seemed nervous prior to the game ▶While I was coming to the stadium I slept in the van so I was sleepy when I arrived. But when I stared at the stage, I became nervous. My coach got Ouh-Hwang-Chung-Sim-Won (a medicine to calm you down as far as I can tell) for me.
-You seemed to lack desire to win when you got into the finals ▶I didn’t have any desire back then. But I was stimulated by the results of the poll asking who people think will win. I thought that I will show myself winning to everyone. As a result, my desire to win was fueled.
-You set a record for the youngest champion ▶I’m feel good that I set the record. Before the game, I didn’t really care about the youngest record or whatever but I hope nobody breaks it (laugh)
-Your timing rush and contains were A-class ▶I had a lot of trouble deciding on a build while I was preparing. When I was practicing with other Protosses, I heard that Vulture raids are good. If I raid at that timing, I can see the build and get some Probe kills. So that was my concept for the game and consequently I was able to execute rushes and contains well.
-Your loss at the second set must be disappointing ▶It was the first time someone used that build against me. If I stayed calm, I could have defended it but I think I couldn’t do it because I was thrown off.
-In the third set, the build decided the game ▶ When my SCV went out, I wondered why there was a zealot if it isn’t a zealot push. I never encountered no gateway to double Nexus build during practice so I didn’t know the timing too well. Since two dragoons came quickly, I wasn’t sure if it was 2 gate or double Nexus. But somehow I was able to control my units well during my han-bang (one-time) push so I managed to win.
-You are one of the few Terrans who beat Protoss on Loki2 ▶If you go standard, it’s hard to beat Protoss on this map. So I strategized on my own. Kim Taek-Yong was not able to search so he wasted a lot of resources and it seemed that he made many minor mistakes. It worked as I prepared.
-You seemed to be in danger when Carriers came out ▶Many Carriers piled up so I was dismayed. I believe I fought rather well because my ground units were upgraded well. But there was no time of danger. Everything went the way I intended from start to finish.
-You defeated Choi Yeon-Sung, Ma Jae-Yoon, and Kim Taek-Yong who all won the MSL at least twice. ▶As I defeated them one by one, I did not get a particular emotion or feeling about me advancing. But people started saying “who is that kid that’s coming up. Why are strong players continuously losing to him” and that affected me. Before playing games, I was pressured by the fact that I didn’t know how to beat my opponents but after the game, they were all the same. Now I think I can play without feeling pressured.
-If you have a player you respect. ▶It’s Lim Yo-Hwan. He is still passionate so long after he started playing. He is someone I’d like to follow in his footsteps.
-What kind of player would you like to be. ▶If I’m on the Pro League entry, I want to be a player that makes the other team say “why does it have to be Park Sung-Kyun.” If I continue to try hard, I believe I can become the best. I will put everything into gaming until the end.
-You have many nicknames now – which one do you like ▶I think positively of the nicknames the fans give me. ‘Scholar Terran” is good. My teammates say it doesn’t suit me but I think it’s ok. But I think “Rommel” is the coolest of them all .
-How did you practice ▶My teammates Han Dong-Hoon, Park Sae-Jung, Son Young-Hoon, and Ahn Ki-Hyo helped me practice and Lee Yoon-Yeol and Kim Sang-Woo gave me advice. From other teams, Hanbit’s Yoon Yong-Tae, Lecaf’s Son Chan-Woong and Oh Young-Jong helped me. I lost many times during practice so I thought about it a lot. I think that helped significantly.
-How are you going to use your winnings. ▶I don’t really know right now. I guess I should put it in my bank account. I don’t really have any use for it (laugh)
-Your father saw the final ▶When I first started playing, my father did not object and gave me a lot of help. His foot has been hurting recently and it would be nice if he gets better.
-What do you want to do most right now ▶I want to sleep. I just want to rest.

Woot thanks for the interview jesung.

Great job to Mind. Although I wasn't really a fan nor supporting him, he has surprised me in many ways. He went the Royal Road, starting from the offline preliminaries alllllll the way to the MSL finals

yay for Mind even though I didn't want him to win. Heir to the terran throne? First it was boxer and his protege oov. Maybe this time it can be NaDa's student.

GGoMa? -_- Why would you take advice from a guy who played 2 games in the last 2 years.
GGoma: Go battlecruiser rush! Mind: OK! *thumbs up* Nada: Yeeeaahh....maybe not. Mind: Oh ok...

I love this part! Imagine the opponent's reaction when they realize who they're up against. Kind of like this:

Yeah, this interview made it very clear how a no-name was able to oust a champ

Insane victory. I did not see it coming for the death of me. Props for taking down the best, Bisu.

That's why everybody is equal, and winning is just a matter of remembering and practicing more than the other guy.

Rommel the Desert Fox? That's excellent considering he plays for WeMade. Thanks infinity for the interview.

how old is he? since he set the record for youngest champion. He is younger than bisu? Oo

Really? That push timing/construction didn't remind you of BoxeR's TvP at all? The vult/tank ratios?
Obviously not a BoxeR clone [after all, who is?] but the idea of the TvP early-mid timing push is very BoxeRish.
|
His Vulture-Tank ratio in his pushes was great too, and very BoxeR-esque in his mine placement the meticulous way he placed his troops.
|
After he beat Oov and Savior, I'm like, man he's good. When he beat Bisu, he became my new favorite player, especially after the interview.

Yes, and besides, he was part of the plot to kill hitler. He failed, while Mind succeeded (in the semifinals!).

I'd say perhaps Mind's play resembles Bisu's a little, of course the aggression/execution factor reshaped to match the Terran racial features. His timing and general strategy was impressive, as was his multitasking, not to speak of micro - especially the game on Loki II.
|
BTW, hello new Terran idol. I'm just hoping you won't pull a Sync or a GGplay on your fans (which I doubt right now, but who knows)
|
nah hes too well rounded to pull a sync/casy (its too early to call ggplay a one hit wonder, everyone slumps after an osl win) although i really doubt hes gonna be the next bonjwa.

Learn your WW2 history, man! Rommel was a Nazi General who led the occupations in Africa and some parts of Europe! He was nicknamed the desert Fox for being a clever and witty son of a jackal and for his desert Blitzkrieg strats.

and mind's strats were clever and witty as his...

Gaaaa. As much as I am dismayed that this guy upset a lot of fan favorites, you gotta love the kid's attitude. Very humble, I love it!
|
i agree jkilla
as much as i am angry that mind killed savior and bisu i also feel sorry for him
being the no name underdog who kills fan favourites is a sucky position, he won't get the champions welcome he deserves. GG mind, champion of msl, you dserved better fanfare even if you are a stinking random terran
|
He looked so nervous right as the games ended and he buried himself in his hands, I bet he still can't believe it.

you don't know what bonjwa means
he didnt have to win this MSL to be considered bonjwa
whether he is or not in the first place is still up in the air
|
steve every korean that i can remember commenting on that word has made it seem like a very, very, very casual word and yet you seem hell-bent that it has a strict definition and people keep violating that definition in some way?
the way the koreans have described the word bonjwa could be thrown around very easily, maybe we should use a different word?

go read up on Rommel before you make such a comment. Rommel != Hitler. he might be the one prominent german figure from WWII that gets respect from everyone.

yeah honestly i didn't like that either...
"calming" medicine seems to be counter to the whole point of playing on a stage, so many players live or die based on how they handle the nerves of stageplay. gulping down some nerve-numbing herbs before the match is really not fair, although i honestly can't see how they'd be able to stop that sort of thing =/
