Ahh, thanks for the info GTR. I'm interested to see Blue Storm here as well. I'm scared that once the cheeses dry out (like they did with MH) we'll find a big ass macro map with a great divide that's too hard to cross.
Katrina is another strange choice. It's been working out in PL much better than I expected: 1-0 PvT, 1-1 PvZ, 2-1 TvZ. Very interesting map.
I'm glad they kept MongHwan, hopefully it's balanced now.
Personna... sigh, I so badly want to see this map now.

Sad that python is gone so soon but glad that katrina is now in the OSL. We've already seen some great games on that map and a few good ones on blue storm as well.
It looks like, finally, both leagues will have great maps at once...

I can't wait to see Persona. And am interested to see the fixes that have been included on Fantasy II as well.
Katrina definitely gets an approval from me.
Blue Storm is kinda "meh" imo, especially since both individual leagues and proleague will be using it. I think it's better than keeping Monty Hall though.

Can someone explain two things two me (off-topic): Why did proleague keep monty hall? Secondly, what the fuck changed on the new monty that made it a non-PvP fest all of a sudden?
Also looking forward to seeing the two new maps. I think OGN always makes/picks better maps than MBC does though in the last seasons they picked some terrible experimental ones (Cultivation Period and Arkanoid; but hey at least they didn't pick The Eye).

The theme of Persona is supposed to be "the masks that we wear." I have no idea how that translates to a BW map.
It will be unveiled live during the group selection.

You could have asked that in the Proleague Map Thread, it isn't too far from this one.
There are now less resources in the main, to help push some balance toward Zerg. The mineral walls also have less minerals. Those are the changes. the map is also not new like it was last season, players have had time to develop strategy (such as Silver's) that wasn't immediately apparent.

Katrina is such an awesome map. Its heavily strategy based and I expect players to start using more shuttles/dropships/overlords in all match ups. The pathing is awesome too.

I wonder if Fantasy 2 has any radical changes.. I mean, it was an extremely new type of map design when it came out, and ZvT stats (I believe) were horribly imba on it.

Fantasy is a basic macro map, Katrina is too, it just has a cool center.

Honestly I'm glad python is out. It's been a good map, but the gameplay is nearly identical every game at this point, and you really know what to expect from it at this point.
Blue storm... ugh. I'm predicting Terran winner this season.

holy crap... it's like a zerg haven.
The ramp to the nat on each map has a permanent darkswarm, which means a lurker rush = auto protection if you manage to get even 1 lurker under there.
Wtf a simple 2 lair lurker/ling rush will mean the zerg will get atleast 1 lurker under there, limiting the terran's ability to move units in and out until they get irradiate. Literally, there is NO WAY you will be able to kill a lurker under those swarms without irradiate or throwing 1093809 firebats into it. (I guess the best choice would be for terrans to abuse spider mines)

I hate the maps with these stupid things in them like: Dark Swarm, D-web, Sunken Colony with Creep, and Pylon. I understand they're trying to make things interesting, but I think i's just making things "gay" for lack of a better word.

But still.

hopefully zerg will be more tempted to just skip the mutas and make lurk tech instead so we get more variety.

I am so looking forward to seeing what strategies will be used due to the swarms.
The best part thought is that Badlands making a comeback finally. Badlands ftw.

Nowadays the map editors are so advanced that you can pretty much do anything, like add trees or minerals on ramps or something. In this case the map maker has just added some of that rock thingy in top of the ramp.
You can download some great map editors at Star Edit Network if you're interested in trying it out.

lol, Persona is like zerg having tier 3 at tier 2. Once you get lurkers you can just take another main + nat for free, your opponent can't even break the ramp with tanks, I love it.

for once though i'd like to see a ZvT favored map after like three shinhan seasons of T-favoritism (yes i know savior won in shinhan3 but he was like the only Z with winning records vs T on some of those maps)

swarms make lurks pretty much invincible
this is normally dealt with by the fact that swarms dont last for too long and terrans can pick off defilers.
the map eliminates both of those. if z gets a few lurkers on your ramp your only choice is drops, which are inefficient for anything other than harass and the z will know thats your only choice, making it even worse. even if you manage to keep them away from your ramp they have 4 free expos once they have lurk tech. terran is gonna be forced into mass drop play and z will be able to devote everything to stopping the drops, since it takes 6 lurkers to close off all 3 bases from the ground.

well sunks wont be needed until the creep has expanded anyway, you wont be able to attack until you have a firebat if z leaves a drone/ling on the ramp

Dark swarms over mineral only expos seem like they'll have a big impact of vulture raids and lurkers for zerg. Yea yea zerg will get lurkers on the ramps really easily, but terrans will just need to back up a little, the nat has a lot of room.

I wonder how Protoss FE will fare (sp?) on Persona. The nat looks like its trying to discourage it.

The only thing that worries me about Persona is how one zergling will be able to single handedly take out an expo at the 2nd nat. It's also really easy to get 3 gas-there's one narrow chokepoint that if defended properly will protect all 3 bases. Python, for instance, was a tad more difficult to defend 3 bases with. Maybe we'll see more air wars and drops, because guardians and wraiths will be easier to afford, not to mention cliffs?

I think these non-standard elements like neutral swarms, pylons, etc are great. SC gets a little stale when its python style x1000.
It is clear, though, that Terran gets raped on Persona, but TvZ has been getting more one-sided in the pro-scene lately, and Blue Storm seems to favor Terran so, whatever

Workers will kill that one ling easily; terran will just need some firebats, maybe a bunker with just a firebat to fight multiple cracklings, though. Protoss should be fine with DT, Archon, and Zealots. I'm not sure if workers can attack under Dark Swarm, anyway always taking some workers to kill ONE ling? Also, he could simply let more Zerglings stay there, and imagine Cracklings...

I think back then maps were so simple, now it seems like they keep getting more weird maps and harder to play on, just because of the skill level of pro gamers have raised incredibly

scvs look like they only have melee range but they do miss under swarm, so i dont know what classification they are.

i doubt anything has 0 range. the 'range' 'melee' type flag probably is unrelated to the effective range.

Looks to me like there *is* a huge TvZ imba on persona.
I find it hard to belive that it's a coincidence that there isn't a single TvZ game on that map over the next month (according to the OSL schedule posted on this site).
I wonder if we'll get to see TvZ on it later in the season.

so basically it comes down to some changes in fantasy. The mineral only placements for xeno sky. All bases have 9 mins. The mineral only for 7 for gamei go won, the ramp at the top has changed so u can't access it as easily Also, is it just me or have the bases been enlarged? I also want a request, if someone could upload fantasy and have fantasy II right below Fantasy I so I can compare and see what else has changed. I'd do it myself, but I suck at this type of thing, so if u do it, much appreciation. (fantasy II feels like it's gonna be much harder, since the mineral onlys can be much easier to protect.)

Changes made to Fantasy:
- Minerals at main increase from 8 to 9.
- Xeno Sky's mineral only expo has been shifted to help zerg.
- The resource placement at the nat for Gamei Gowon has been shifted upward slightly, closer to the ramp leading to the mineral only expo.

It plays out kindof like a game of BGH at the end, lots of wraith & BC's. Not really that amazing, just surprising since it's a pro game. I'd recommend the first bit, but it drags on too long.

The first 40 minutes has plenty of action. Hwasing throwing punch after punch that does critical damage, but Light somehow manages to stay on his feet. The next 20 minutes is a little less exciting, the last 15 minutes is pretty anti climatic, but then the last 5 minutes (when it comes down to the battle over 1 expo) gets exciting again. Unfortunately there's no MASSIVE battle in the end..
