Python gets replaced by Katrina, eh? Anyone know the dates? thanks for posting this.
Revolutionist fighting!!!

Finally decent group for Nada! That said I am really excited about groups B and C. Lets see if the curse is kicking again
|
Bisu literally picked 3 of the most aggressive zergs ever into his group, that will be funny
|
|
hrm schedule.. I expected to see some exact time & date here, am I missing something?
Group B is definitely getting the most attention, I just hope the 3 Zergs won't be too much and overwhelm such confidence from Bisu.. He's still the only hope for Protoss. <3
|
is bisu first toss in history who picked group full of zerg?
|
what is this "aggressive zergs will overwhelm bisu" mindset? bisu is going to rape whoever he plays without question
|
ooooh the anticipation, i can't wait :SSS

YAY! Jaedong gets to play Bisu on Blue Storm. Best chance he has of beating Bisu, and if he does, he probably won't have to play him again until the finals!

Group A plays on the night of January 3, but that's the only one I know.

Great groups, chances for pretty much every interesting player to shine.
Some predictions:
A: Mind should have little trouble crusing through this one, Sea should be able to manage it too. In TvT I'd say Sea is the favourite, but both those zergs are trash (or are considered trash yet - Mind should know this best).
B: This group is a joke. No, seriously, funniest group ever. Bisu, however, won't have an easy time fending off 2 ling (or hydra) all-in's in a row. Still, he's the expected winner. The best odds for a second place finisher belong to Jae. However, players here are really close (except for Bisu, who, in this MU, is way beyond everyone), so it's really a great luckfest.
C: If Savior indeed picked those people, he must be either mad or really willing to prove that his ZvP is still the best in the world. I mean Anytime is the original zerg killer (with a great PL record as of lately), while Kal is one of those low-echelon pros who are famous for one good matchup. Guess what? It's PvZ. Ruby is also quite a nice TvZ'er. The odds of Savior meeting two tosses in these series are quite low, but they still exist. I'd say, given the strengths of the players here, Anytime is the favourite one, with Savior closely behind.
D: Three monster TvT's (well, maybe not a case for FBH) and one toss who never yet made it anywhere. While I can't really put an exclamation mark on Xellos' TvP, both other people are really really strong at it. Jangbi better be prepared. The good thing for him is that he can practice only one MU, the bad thing is that PvT consistency is in a huge deficit lately (the irony, PvZ is more consistent than PvT), so Jangbi will also need a bit of luck. His opening map is Zodiac vs Xellos though, both are the most favourable scenario save for maybe Loki as the map. Still, the expected winner of the group is definetely Hwasin, while the other three are tied as the expected runner-up. Xellos is a rusty genius, while the two others have less experience, but better preparation. The karmic curse (die, fucker!) on FBH and a great opener map and one MU to practice for Jangbi make the situation even.
E: Another 3v1 group. And once again, the 1 player tests only one MU and it's his best one. Luxury is a mediocre zerg, but when it comes to ZvT, he can fight very well. However, UpMagic has been solid lately, so he's the #1 expected finisher. ForGG is still a noone (and a cheating idiot as well), while Memory should be playing SC elsewhere (hint: minor league). Number two, therefore, goes to Luxury.
F: Aww, the vets duke it out here. Light has been trying for years to win something, but he's really a big smiling dice with glasses (you're fucking good at SC, man, get some pacifying pills or something, that nerve thing is killing you). His opponent is noone other than GoRush, a slumping zerg who can occasionally show champion-caliber brilliance only to receive a miserable loss in the next game. Nearly the same goes for Ra (8 interceptors) who is still a beloved build order wonder with a tendency to lose to shitty players in the most humiliating ways. Especially terran players. So, even though I don't know much about Shine, Ra may lose it. I'd say this group as a whole could be as well decided by a random number generator instead of a TV broadcast, but the public wants to see their heroes fail in person, so they will play games. Maps don't matter, opponents don't matter, everyone here save for Shine is fighting himself. Well, it all depends on whether Light finally beats his nervousness and starts owning, the other ones have pretty much shown that consistency is clearly not their ground. Light expected to win here CLOSELY followed by pretty much everyone.
G: Free. Flash. Nerve vs childhood. Thankfully, there ain't no Stork or Savior here so fate smiled on free for now. I don't know if he beats himself this time, but if he manages to survive the battle with himself, he will walk over Flash. Game two of this group shouldn't be nearly as interesting to watch because Oov is a monster in TvZ while Orion is a noone. So, I'd place the players here in that order: Free #1, flash and oov #2, orion #3. Expect upset wins and losses though, everyone here is famous for that.
H: Kwanro, NaDa, Canata, SangHo. The situation in this group depends on two factors: if Kwanro's all-in succeeds in game 1 and if Kwanro's all-in succeeds in game 2. You could make a case for his second opponent being smart enough to expect it, but I wouldn't - everyone he faced yet save for Bisu wasn't. Solid, consistent, confident play is all that is required to make this "aggressive" parody of a zerg run around with his small armies and say 'gg'. Whoever makes a build-order execution bot will make Kwanro cry. NaDa, however, is a smart guy, so I don't expect him to give up easily. He is also the grandpa zombie of SC (known for a habit of getting back from the grave) so I'd give him the #1 spot here. The same cannot be said for neither Canata nor SangHo but I'm sure both can make it to Ro16 to die there. Well, to be honest, I've been somewhat unfair to Kwanro, his all-in's ARE good, but if he hopes to get to the finals using only them, I'm not going to be his fan.

Orion is no one, but fear the CJ player with nothing but 3 survivor games for the last 3 months. He's going to be practicing for the oov match until his eyes bleed.

Group B is dangerous for everyone in it, and they all have a lot to lose except yarnc. Jaedong probably isn't too happy about it. I'm not sure if it was a ballsy move from Bisu or not. Normally getting 3 of your best match up would seem like a breeze, but he picked 3 people who have a chance to beat anyone. sAviOr probably would've been an easier pick than any of them at this point. :X
|
hahaha i would have loved to watch flash and upmagic cheese the hell out of each other...they were paired at one point in group selection :/

Do the first people to make it out of each group get any advantage over the second winners in the next stage of the tournament?
|
bisu and jaedong are going to win group b bisu> zerg jaedong>zerg bisu#1 jaedong#2 bisu may fuck up (i doubt it) but jaedong is definitely passing this group

Jaedong and Bisu are both excellent against Zerg, but PvZ and ZvZ can definitely be some crazy matchups. And when you're an underdog, you're more likely to do crazy things. I'd still say Bisu and Jaedong are the most likely winners of course but it's definitely going to be an exciting group and not just the current S-Class players mopping up the other two. And what does July have specifically prepared for Bisu? It'd be funny if they don't even get to play each other though I'd rather they do.

Yes they do, a 2-0 will get paired against a 2-1 for the round of 16. Additionally, the 2-0 player will get to thumb down a map. Since the Round of 16 is best of three, the 2-0 will get to chose the one map out of the four that will not be in the best of three.

My thoughts on Group B
Group B: Favorites: Bisu, Jaedong
This will by far be the most interesting group in this entire Ro32. We have the notorious PvZ destroyer, the reigning OSL champion, 2-time OSL winner, and a solid zerg. Fake Yellow's mechanics are definitely well on par, but won't save him through this group. Although he might earn a win against July. Jaedong's ZvZ, or Bisu's PvZ will crush Yellow no matter where he goes. The God of War seems to gaining a little bit of his former self but will not surpass the reigning zerg king. Jaedong's ZvZ will definitely let him win this group, should he does lose to Bisu. Jaedong's ZvP looked much more refined in his games vs Stork, but we are talking about Bisu here. However, take into consideration the fact that Jaedong really wants to prove himself, I can see that this will be a wild game.
Out of everyone, Bisu has the advantage here. He has to practice only one MU, which is PvZ, as opposed to ZvP and ZvZ. Bisu is definitely hungry to prove himself after his humiliating defeats vs Stork and Mind. He's out to defeat Jaedong, the zerg who took the title that Bisu thought was rightfully his. This will definitely be an exciting matchup.
|
I would expect Jaedong to dominate here but ZvZ is SO unpredictable.
|
Yes but as far as group B goes, july is not a ZvP push over he did beat bisu sometime a while back and fake yellow's ZvZ is nothing to sneeze at either, however i still think Bisu and Jaedong will come out on top. And I can't wait to see Bisu vs. Jaedong, if he can prove himself against bisu there won't be many that can beat him at ANY mu.

no it isn't with Jaedong playing.
|
Bisu will rise above defeat and once again unleash his apocalyptic PvZ fury.
|
bisu got huge stones, thats for sure
|
if bisu had stones he'd have picked 3 terrans
3 zergs = hey look at me play my best mu
|
loki 2 + katrina...so imba for protoss

He picked 3 terrans last year, plus we'd rather see him play best of 5 matches against these terrans everyone of which he's capable of beating.

Shit, I see sAviOr vs. RuBy ... I hope Ma Jae Yoon gets revenge for his loss at PL ! :O

That's not how it happened. The only pick he made was to put the OSL champion in his group. July wanted to be in his group so he made it happen but he didn't pick it. He didn't use his third pick.

Except, by all accounts, it will probably become TvT and ZvZ in the winners and losers games.

He didn't want 3 zergs? Ask him. Either way he was fine with 3 zergs cus of the "hey lookie I will take down the OSL champ, my former mentor, and some random Z" factor.
What made him do it wasn't no stones. But it's gonna be fun to watch fosho.

I have a feeling that group B may be a shocker.
|
hmm Bees can only sting once before they are screwed O_O
Yet we have this Beesuit who must sting thrice.... Clearly then Bisu will end up 1-2. Tis undeniable.
>
|
wow, Bisu's group is going to be so fun to watch. Remember it's only bo1 against each player so I see Jaedong and July with a good chance I think.
