SKT1 is to replace their entire coaching staff, due to the team's poor performance. This includes their head coach/manager Joo Hoon (often seen with the stopwatch or sunglasses).
Kingdom and ILoveoov have been "promoted" to player-coaches, meaning you'll never see them in meaningful competition again.
All of us old school fans can go weep in a corner now.

Joo Hoon doesn't deserve this.

=[ iloveoov i never liked him during his peak but you can't deny how utterly scary he was
|
Wait, sorry if this has been posted already but I'm not aware of any updates, how is Kingdom's current situation after his surgery? I know the surgery itself went ok, but what about now? is he still able to play?
Bye Kingdom and oov (one of my fav players), stay fly.

.. I understand them "promoting" Kingom to a player-coach, because of his hand, but Iloveoov?? Why? I guess we will never again see his legendary macro :[

SKT1's only doing badly cause of Boxer's absence...Replacing the coaches isn't going to help any...

yes
this was BOXERS TEAM, which BOXER made and BOXER grew.
then this stupid sk telecom conglomerate just runs around and removes all of the coaching staff.

the funnier thing is, where the fuck are you going to get new staff and a new manager (that is experienced) unless you buy out good ones, man i'd be pissed if coach cho was bought over to skt for a contract of 200k or something.
or maybe they might get one of those k-league managers -.-

Well hopefully this gets them back in the game.

It is sad for Kingdom and Oov, but they've been shadows of their former selves. It sucks, but it's true. SKT as a team would probably be better developing new talent instead of holding onto the tiny hope of a comeback from old players (which isn't happening). Just look at the teams that are doing well, they have home grown talent and have plenty of studs now, while KTF and SKT stuck to their vets for too long. The future for those teams belong to Flash, Shudder, etc.
Starcraft is a professional sport, and the life-cycle of a progamer is short--just a few years if they are lucky. I know there's a different "culture" of progaming but coaches get fired all the time for poor performance in other sports.
Best of luck to SKT and to the departed coaching staff. Maybe the new management will instill some life into the team next season.

its talking about how although bisu is lately showing good results overall, his record on blue storm is bad. he is on a 3-loss streak on that map, and including non-A-matches is only 4-8. on the other hand, he is 7-5 on python, 5-1 on katrina, fantasy II 3-2, loki II 4-1, zodiac 3-2.
he is 0-3 vs zerg---that is without a win vz. losses against savior, jaedong, and ggplay (although this one wasn't an official match).
he is 0-1 vs july and will be playing him next in the Bacchus OSL.
he needs to improve his play on this map. he lost in the early game to a hydralisk rush vs savior, whereas vs jaedong and ggplay he lost due to not being able to control the game.
tl;dr: blue storm is bisu's Achilles heel, hype for his match vs july

Hmmm, when you think of it now, who from the original 2004 SKT Team is still in the team now as a player?
Rainbow.
I guess it was the time to move on I guess.

I never ever liked Oov, but I'm surprise he has been demoted. I remember how dominating he was and shudder if BW became a game of throw 12380123 units at enemy and win.
I guess without macro, his game is weak compared to the rest.

Honestly...Kingdom I can see but ILOVEOOV? OMG...IT'S NOT LIKE HE WASN'T MAKING IT PASS OFFLINE QUALIFIERS... WTFFF He goes to Ro16(Usually I think?) almost every season...Why the fuck?
If this happens, SK Telecom 1 will no longer be my favourite team and I'd probably stay less tuned-in to the Korean pro gaming scene. However, theirs always a chance BoxeR can bring new hope to SKT1 when he comes back...but how many new-school people can you recruit and become good within the time frame of SC2's release? I doubt many people would want to train hard via Internet Cafes/Offline then try to get on a team AND try even harder to win Starleagues. There might be a few but I just don't see it..
If I was in their shoes I'd just hold it off until SC2 then make a run at that instead of SC *shrugs* So I'm not sure what SK Telecom 1 is thinking.. Boxer's in the military for a while longer, makes no difference

I doubt removing Oov will get the effect they desire, although I doubt a Kingdom comeback. Either way, it is a depressing set of news.

Probably the most idiotic thing evar. Why not just have oov sit out for Proleague and do his own thing for individual (instead of announcing it, just tell him they won't choose him or.. something)?

Ok, Kingdom moving to player-coach is to be expected after his surgery.. hopefully his status is reviewed after he makes a recover iloveoov to player-coach makes some sense as under his captaincy SKT picked up their performance... a little bit... but cmonnnnnnn its iloveoov!!! after thinking about it, oov wouldve had to agree to this, and given his lack of passion as of late (remember oov's surprise to keep him interested in progaming) i guess this was a natural move...
Losing aficionado and Joo Hoon is fucking STUPID!! Julyzerg must be regretting the move now... seeing as one of the large reasons he chose skt was because of aficionado.. and Joo Hoon has lead to SKT to multiple finals in Proleauge... Last season it was limiting players to one league, this time its firing the coaching staff.. SKT has lost the plot
thank god im an MBC fan

Wow This sucks ass T_T I mean Kingdom I can understand, he did the surgery and shit, but why Oov . And besides, SKT's new faces are doing great, I mean, they got no1 in the Minor Leagues right, that shows alot, doing that to kingdom was a good move, but not too OOv

this is fucking awful news. i wonder what exec made this decision.

I think this is overreacted a bit. Obviously the old SKT team carries a lot of memories with all of you. But it might be not such an absurd idea to think that new players now come to play. Old legends became the teachers.. And the apprentices can follow up the role their great teachers once fullfilled.
New staff makes sence in the meaning of a total new start. This is not bad news for SKT, this is the rebirth of an new era of fighting.
Don't we see this in other teams? Sea, Jeadong both young players. I think this is a natural thing to be doing.

KTF should do the same, retire reach, ra and gf and get on with flash etc

It's ok, once SC 2 comes out, even if it's not as good a game, the BW scene will die more or less.

It's hard to imagine there will be no more monster macro games from Oov. The game he won against firebathero in MSL S2 last year was one of the most beastly perfomances Ive seen from him recently. He lost the series, but I will never forget that game. His game vs Darkelf on Monty this PL season was also a classic, not only due to Darkelfs horrid play.
Imagine no more
"Oov is losing alot of scvs"
"Oov is barely defending the attack"
"gg Oov wins"

I can't imagine no more
I remember his game vs Much
Oov loses a bunch of scv due to Dark Templar and then even more due to Storm....
Ooov makes 123423 tanks and vultures somehow even after taking all that hit
Sends them to much's base....
GG oov wins
|
my favorite Protoss will never play again? And one of my favorite Terran will also quite? Life will never be the same...

argh stop it...hurts too much. I loved these oov moments where the camera looked at his enemy and you thought "hm that's a good amount of units" and then the camera goes back to oov and you'd see like a shitton of units, everyone's going ooooohhh and just at this moment he attacks and rolls over the other guy.
You sit back in your leather chair in your dressing gown, sip your martini and say something like "well done my friend, well done." (last part was so random)

Come on guys, give it a chance! I mean, look at what good all the coaching changes over the years have done for KTF.

Yeah, it ruined all the players that were coaches during that time. Ra, Reach, Yellow, Marine all notably slumped during their coaching.
|
|
SKT started out real well this year too. Is the coach gonna be demoted or is he totally fired from his job? And its not fair that kingdom and iloveoov have to be a player coach, it sounds worse because all you do is coach and not play competively... they're not even old yet and havent gone to the army!!
