You may have noticed that there are some quiz questions popping up in the poll section of the site. (Look down the right column). This thread will serve as an archive for those questions, and will be updated with the answers. Questions will be posted every 24 hours. Test your knowledge, and good luck!
Please note: None of the questions are opinion. They are all based on rigorous statistical analysis.
Question 1: Excluding special events, Boxer has won ___ games vs NaDa.
A) 21 B) 13 C) 8 D) 6 E) 2
+ Show Spoiler [Answer] + The correct answer is 6. Their overall record is 6-6, with the Emperor currently holding a three game winning streak over NaDa which includes a great game on R-Point where NaDa tried to break out of a massive Boxer containment with floating ebays: + Show Spoiler +On January 03 2006 21:54 Manifesto7 wrote:NaDa was contained in the top left by Boxer all game. Boxer had such a bead on Nada's ships that he might as well have played with vis on. It was a rediculous display of BW prowess. NaDa has one last chance to break out of this containment and tries to doom drop Boxer's main. First he needs something to distract the anti air for his ships. Sooo... Step 1: Use your minerals. Step 2: FLY BABY FLY Step 3: Sneak under the radar! Step 4: Dont forget to scan behind the defensive line to see what awaits you... o... too late. That is the Nada EBAY float that was truely spectacular in its failure, and made Boxer look all godlike. To be fair, Boxer scanned the ebays just after they lifted, so he has ample time to prepare. From: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=35448 Here is a list of all their games:05-12-27 SKY2005 ProLeague R-Point Win 04-10-31 KT-KTF2004 League Luna Win 04-09-17 EVER2004 OSL Requiem Win 04-01-13 KT-KTF Premiere Leagu.. Quiz #2: Which map gives P the best chance in PvT?
A) Nostalgia B) Luna the final C) Shin Peaks of Baekdu D) Ride of the Valkyries E) 815
+ Show Spoiler [Answer] +The correct answer is Shin Peaks of Baekdu.
815 = PvT: 6-7 (46.2%) Luna the Final = PvT: 8-8 (50%) Nostalgia = PvT: 24-28 (46.2%) Ride of the Valkyries = PvT: 17-18 (48.6%) Shin Peaks of Baedku = PvT: 22-14 (61.1%)
An interesting point is that once 815 was remodeled and changed to 815 III, the balance went to hell and Protoss rampaged over Terran 18-7.
Quiz #3: The player on ACE with the highest career winning percentage is:
A)forU B)MuMyung C)Boxer D)Rage E)HOT-Forever
+ Show Spoiler [Answer] +Your answer to question three is H.O.T.-Forever! For those of you thinking it was a trap, that is correct, Boxer has the second highest winning % of the team. That being said, he has many more games played. Let's take a look at the two front runners:
H.O.T.-Forever: Record: All: 103-73 (58.52%) ZvT: 37-30 (55.22%) ZvZ: 40-28 (58.82%) ZvP: 26-15 (63.41%)
Boxer: All: 233-174 (57.25%) TvT: 61-52 (53.98%) TvZ: 110-54 (67.07%) TvP: 62-68 (47.69%)
I would like you to, for a moment, examine Boxer's TvZ record though. He easily has the best single MU % of anyone who has played more than 50 games in the MU. Considering he is on his way to 200 TvZ, the record is just astounding.
Here is the team totals for ACE:
BoxeR T 57.25% ChRh T 45.45% Clon Z 40.32% DaezanG P 50.94% fOru P 46.67% H.O.T-Forever Z 58.52% MuMyung Z 47.32% OversKy Z 52.5% Qoo)Sunny T 43.86% Rage P 41.38%
Quiz #4: In Shinhan 3, who won more of the TvZ matchup?
A) Terran domination. B) Zerg Infestation. C) Neither, they tied.
+ Show Spoiler [Answer] + Terran... domination? Well perhaps I suffer from a little embelishment. Terran did indeed win the matchup, however it was a razor thin margain, 25-24. Things would have been much more lopshided, however the champion Savior smashed his way through NaDa and Iris to bring a measure of respectability to the overmind.
Quiz 5: Of the 66 games played on Geometry this season, how many have NOT included terran?
A) 5 B) 13 C) 18 D) 30 E) 44
My Bad! I forgot the most recent 3 games! Attention to details.. ATTENTION TO DETAIL SIR! (For the record there were 69 games played, and only 6 have not had a terran player. Terran is also owning zerg 80% of the time and is almost as good vs protoss. What a shit map.)
Let me try again... Quiz 5: Nal_rA has a winning record vs all these Terran players but 1. Who?
A) Boxer B) Canata C) Midas D) Sync E) GoodFriend
State their records for bonus points!
+ Show Spoiler [Answer] +Your answer is... Midas! Yes the happy terran is the onyl one of these five stellar players to have a winning record vs the Flower Toss. Here are the respective records:
Nal_rA vs Boxer 11-5 Nal_rA vs Canata 2-0 Nal_rA vs Midas 2-3 Nal_rA vs GoodFriend 6-3 Nal_rA vs Sync 3-0
Overall Nal_rA sports a sparkling record of 79-49, or 62% vs the human race.
Quiz #6: In how many StarLeagues (OSL + MSL) have protoss players outnumbered zerg players?
A) 0 B) 1 C) 3 D) 5 E) 7+
+ Show Spoiler [Answer] +The answer is... Five! Which means only 17% of you are really very smart. For the record, the five StarLeagues were: 1. GOMTV MSL Season 2 (7): Child, GoRush, JJu, JulyZerg, Nal_keke, OversKy, sAviOr (8): Bisu, Chalrenge, free[gm], JangBi, Much[gm], Nal_rA, Stork, TT 2. 2006 1st Pringles MBCGame StarLeague(5): ChoJJa, GoRush, MuMyung, Rumble, sAviOr (7): IntoTheRainBOw, Kingdom, Nal_rA, PuSan, Reach, Stork, TerAtO 3. 2005 ShinHan Bank OnGameNet StarLeague(3): JulyZerg, SaferZerg, ZergMaN (5): AnyTime, IntoTheRainBOw, Nal_Rock, PuSan, Stork 4. 2004 Gillette OnGameNet Starleague(3): GoRush, JJu, JulyZerg (5): IntoTheRainBOw, Kingdom, Nal_rA, Reach, Zeus 5. 2002 Pepsi Twist KPGA Tour 3rd League(5): H.O.T-Forever, KisS)JinSu, Side_LeGenD, sigamari, YellOw (6): EJi, Garimto, IntoTheRainBOw, Reach, SONJJANG, Zeus It is interesting to note that only recently has protoss really come on. I am sure this result will spawn massive amounts of ZvP imbalance threads.
Quiz #7: At the beginning of his career, iloveoov went on a __ win streak against Zerg (excluding special events):
A) 8-0 B) 12-0 C) 19-0 D) 27-0
+ Show Spoiler [Answer] +Do you doubt the irresistible force that is iloveoov? Nobody, past or present, has ever dominated like iloveoov. That is right, 27-0, twenty-seven - donut is the correct answer. Nobody had stats like oov when he was tearing up the MSL. His streak lasted from June of 2003 to July of 2004. The player to do it? None other than his new teammate, JulyZerg. In one of the most amazing 5 game series in one of the greatest OSL tournaments ever, July stopped iloveoov in game two of the best-of-five on Nostalgia. A cookie for the person that recalls the strategy used A list of people beat by iloveoov in his remarkable stretch: Junwi Enough Love[30.D.O.M] Silver Silver TheWind Junwi Crystal Yellow Yellow Yellow! (this was his sweep in the TriGem MSL) GoRush Junior Qoo)Max ChoJJa MuMyung Jju Yellow TheWind Jju Side_Legend JulyZerg TheWind ChoJJa Side_Legend Sonic)Black (my personal favorite zerg of the time) Silver JulyZerg Primal power from the Gorilla Terran.
Quiz #8: Reach and ChoJJa are playing head to head to determine your fate. Choose the player most likely to win (statistically), and your life will be spared.
A) ChoJJa B) Reach
+ Show Spoiler [Answer] +Unfotunately, 60% of you are dead. TeamLiquid provides flower services at a very reasonable rate.
Quiz 9: Which map and matchup has historically been the most imbalanced? (All maps have a min. 10 games in that mu)
A) Mercury, PvT B) Enter the Dragon, ZvT C) R-Point, TvZ D) Sin Gaema Gowon, PvT E) Neo Forte, ZvP
+ Show Spoiler [Answer] +The answer is... Enter the Dragon! This match was a zerg graveyard as Terran walked away with an 18-7 (72%) record. Factors that led to this was a natural that was far far away, no gas anywhere, and only two possible positions. Terrans loved it.
Stay tuned for more! GTR-2-Go is taking over from here! Im going on vacation. See you!

Is 2 statistically or strategically?
Nostalgia or Luna seem like the correct answers to me. With Nostalgia being more right?

Woah I never knew of that Boxer vs Nada game. Can anyone share a VOD link pls? And all the other Boxer vs Nada games if possible... >_<

1. (B) 13 times, not that I really know just guessing 2. (C) PEAKS OF I OWN JU

I think the question for the second quiz is too subjective.
We all know PvT is imba.

my guess of 13 was quite far off. They haven't even played 13times in normal events. o well
For maps I was deciding between 815 and Nostalgia but decided to go with 815.
|
Peaks is great for carriers. 3/3/3 Mass Carrier Ftw!
|
omg Manlyfesto's threads are always so fun
|
mmhm liked the description between Boxer and Nada
|
|
I guessed 6... awesome
2) 815 or Luna, I can't decide, but for the poll I picked Luna so whatever
|
I guessed 6 because of somehow stumbling across an argument about whether Nada or Boxer's style or something boring like that.
Anyways I guessed RoV, but I don't have my secret map hack on .
Anyways, all of those maps appear to be some of the most balanced out there so it's a hard guess.

Is it all versions of 815 or just the latest?

Peaks. i didnt know boxer vs nada record and person with most in ace is um boxer or mumyung? Peaks is really good for carriers i remember Anytime vs. Midas on it

Woot, I voted peaks too.
I remember thinking at one point in time, "Wtf? I thought this is a terran map, I guess Tosses are just cheesing every game because it would be so hard to play straight up.'
|
damn. WHen i voted 815 I was thinking 815 III. I voted H.O.T because he wasn't around for that long. Boxer and Mumyung have been playing for a while in the proleagues.

it's gotta be H.O.T.
he did well while he was around and wasn't around all that long. Boxer on the ohter and has been around forever and it's harder to keep better win percentages the more you play.

815 = Normal Version with crappy ramps, heightened islands, no mineral blockages on them. 815 2.0 = Ramps stay the same, islands not heightened anymore with mineral blockages. 815 3.0-3.2 = Ramps revert accordingly with new reverse ramp tool.

i think what they meant with HOT not being around that long was that of course he played early but then around 2002-2003 or so he stopped playing 1v1s (unlike boxer who has been hanging around individual leagues the entire time)
obviously all the pros on the military teams would have started a long time ago =\\
edit: i think being 5/5 without looking up any of the stats (cheating ) would be difficult (who's going to know every time that boxer has won exactly 6 non special event games against nada or % wins of each of those map versions PvT or which way the 1-game swung on peaks etc.) the "easiest" one was probably the terran with the best record against ra (although i like to think of it as least-bad record haha considering how one-sided all of the records are besides midas who only holds a single game lead)

It is still at 68% after all his recent troubles.

I remember someone posting all of the records of the 27-0 streak in a Proleague match, this season Cant remember which one though :|
Edit: I'm 4-3!! K yeah thats not that great XD
|
LOL 27-0. OOv is a monster!

Heh, I must say I thought that Nostalgia was played twice in that series if that was the Gillette Starleague. Anyways, if it's the game I'm thinking it was that lurker flank from the bridges at the nat and the ramp leading to the mineral only which forced Oov to retreat up his ramp which led to his death. Cookie now!

You're right, I was game one (and five). And I think the reason the flank worked so well was that July did alot of damage early with just lings.

actually, MANI, Nostalgia was played as game 1 and game 5
In game 1 July used a fast 2hatch lurker to poke at oov's nat, and in the meantime got 3 more gas. oov walked around outside his nat once but got ransacked like a chump by about 2 groups of lings and 3 lurkers, then july walked in with swarm and ling/lurker
game 5 was more of the same, except oov didnt even get to leave his nat, and july finished him with swarm/ultra

July and Oov are teammates now you say...?
Link thread?

Link thread?
Proleague Results and Standings?
It happened 1-2 months ago or something, a couple news threads back then. July and Oov won a 2v2 together, and July's played a couple of individual games. And he played several in the MSL with an SKT jersey already.
edit:
Thread talking about contract issues between MBC/JulyZerg, MBC/Pusan here, for some reason can't find a thread about SKT picking him up, though, without searching too hard.

I blame it on everyone praising Reach all the time.
Mani you killed 60% of the voters. I hope you can live with yourself. (Thankfully Cowboy Zerg probably saved my life.)

I'm pretty sure Julyzerg won game 1 in the BO5 between him and Oov, on Nostalgia with a lurker ling rush. Not game 2 =] EDIT: Oops, I should read the thread before I answer ;D
I have real idea of the matchup statistics on the maps in the latest quiz but I'd go with r-point tvz simply cause it's the most recent map and my mind tells me terran dominated on it =[

also i'm reasonably sure oov lost to July in iTV before gillette OSL's semi's happened. the leagues were running at the same time and July won iTV twice before gillette osl finished

they didn't face until the finals of the third stage of iTV but yeah it was like a week before they met in the semis of gilette
|
Good shit I voted Chojja. XD
|
Im gonna guess ETD, shit used to be cake tvz for me. Fast ebay 3 rax with armor. However, it may not hav ebeen played enough, some of these stats on maps are misleading imo because some of them have quite a few less games played on them

That is it for me folks, Im going on vacation! GTR will take care of the polls until the launch. I hope you enjoyed this thread.

Could it have anything to do with fighterforum.com? I think that's their F with a star, let me check...
Never mind! I suck at remembering logos! Especially since that is nothing even close to the fighterorum.com logo (which is just basically a blocked fighterforum in caps).

MANIFESTO THERE'S AN ERROR IN THE POST!
in your quote about July vs Iloveoov in the gillette bo5, july actually beat iloveoov in game one on nostalgia. the series went
July > oov nostalgia July > oov namja iyagi oov > July mercury oov > July requiem July > oov nostalgia
(i might have games 3 and 4 flipped)
but yeah!
fix it RAR! ^_^

So everybody should get it right now :O

Where are all the other post??? like who has the best % on ZvZ and all this other stuff????
|
The 27-0/26-0 mistake is due to KESPA not recording series' games in the right order most of the time. Either way, that streak is fucking ridiculous.
