Which new generation of players are you talking about? There's no top new players, even Life is gone. I think we shuold face the fact that sc2 is past its prime for 2 years now. There won't be a new swell of new top players.

Not in the Korean scene no, but, with the WCS life support format we're getting some new foreigners doing quite well.

Since 1v1 RTS games are not as popular as it once was I really wish jaedong and flash would shift their eyes to fighting games as it's still a 1v1 game. With street fighter 5 being fresh and new I really think they could perform well in that game and they have many transferable skills(finger speed, reactions, mind games etc.).
Their popularity could also help grow the Korean fighting game scene.
I mean infiltration started competitive street fighter at age 25 and became one of the greatest players ever. With flash and jaedong being so talented and hard working who knows what they could accomplish.
Well...one can dream

There are new rising stars in EU and NA and even in korea. Hopefully there will be some more drafts. Jesusi christ stop living in the past. Everyone will retire or stop playing the game at some point. And new players will come.
The biggest wall is comming from ppl like you? My favorite player reitred? dead gaem, new player? noob...
You don't even give new guys the cachne. Feedback from LotV is positive. Viewership is okay, EU and NA players are finally have chance to compete? What more you want lol

Usually when pros are quitting they don't say that they lost interest in the game/they don't feel it's fun anymore, but if every pro that retired did state it semi-officially maybe that'd have some weight on the dev team continuing to ruin the game :V
Or he just got bored of the game? He's been playing competitively for a long ass time (over 10 years I believe now?). He enjoyed sc2 and then grew bored of it. Whether it's because of the game or he's just tired of competing, doesn't make sc2 a bad game.
I didn't quit sc2 because it was a bad game (especially now when it's at it's peak). I quit because after 5 years of playing, I just got sick of it. I still watch sc2 and enjoy the matches at times.

To elaborate on (7) Jaedong joined the clan disguised as an ordinary user and after he revealed he was jaedong, they told him to stop making shit up. Hahaha! sounds like a scene out of a typical Korean film.

don't think they are missing the actual game broodwar as much as they are missing their success in it, it just hasn't translated as well as they thought it would... not meeting expectations makes anybody unhappy

It could be the other way around, you can't train as hard on a game that you don't find fun to play, hence you don't get as much success.

It is a possibility I suppose, I did enjoy broodwar more than SC2 but also had a fair bit more success so I might be biased too, I just wish they would make warcraft 4 at this point so we have a healthy competitive RTS scene instead of a decaying one

Of course the likes of FlaSh, Jaedong and Bisu love BW more, they were hugely successful in it.

Are we really going to shift the blame to Jaedong, FlaSh etc.? And let's not forget dudes like Jangbi, Stork, and Bisu who were just like yeah fuck this shit... There's nothing wrong with SC2, they're just bad at the game, right?

It's a different game, enough said. Much more so different than between 1.6 and CS:GO.
If they feel that they are going to do better or be happier in Brood War, then that's fine. That's where they truly shined after all.
Starcraft 2 is a good game in its own right, but don't expect every Brood War player to love it. It's not good or bad, it's just different. That means that taste comes into play, hence people going back to Brood War.

1.6 is way closer to cs:go than bw is to sc2. People think bw is similar to sc2 just because of the name, if you've played both games you would know that they are entirely different, like, not even close. Cs:go and 1.6 are similar enough so that successful players from one game can easily translate their skills to the other one. Hell, even the maps are basically the same.

Thanks for posting this, the negativity from some old BW Fanboys or even Elite Korean SC2 one and only is just going extremly on my balls and this negativity isn't helping anybody at all, remeber the daed game shit? Did it something positive or anything? Not at all. I don't like Blizzards Sc2 Aproach sometimes still we get new Talent, in EU and NA, watched Today's DH Final? Nerchio vs Showtime was fuckign awesome and really good Games. Foreigners arent just shit like the haters always say, the Numbers where good for SC2. The Viewers are still higher then Heroes which is supported so fuckign heavy since 1 Years and even the Heartstone Viewers are on the same Level as the Sc2 ones? Where is that Game Dead anywhere? I don't get this People who are just bashing most of the Time. If you don't like Sc2 don't watch it and play BW or just watch GSL/ SSL and fap on Koreans ffs.

I think both are true, which makes it a rather self-defeating cycle. He isn't doing well because he lost interest in the game, and he lost some interest because he isn't doing well.
With the changes to the WCS region locking and the lack of global events that allow Koreans, Jaedong needed a big change in lifestyle for him to compete and get exposure in Korea. His old lifestyle was decent for competing in the global events that he can no longer do, but it seems he has no interest in joining any Korean teams. There isn't much he can do with SC2 right now given his circumstances.
Maybe he should attend Homestory Cup and go off with a bang as a gift for his fans. Even if he bombs out, it would be cool to see his shining personality interact with the foreign community one last time.
