I like to adjust it to say: If one dog turns to another and says "everything a dog says is a lie" is that a paradox?

If you are talking about elegantly expressing any paradox, then your statement is probably the simplest, you're quite right. But the two statements, I guess, describe different sorts of paradoxes and are, as such, both useful fundamental constructs. Great thread, by the way. Anyone interested in this sort of stuff really needs to read the book "Gödel, Escher, Bach" by Douglas Hofstadter. It will twist your head in knots but it's well worth it.
