Finally...

That article has Obama at 32 over Clinton at 25. And Huckabee at 32 over Romney at 26.
I'm rooting for Obama. Interestingly the article says that Obama is getting his lead from former independents and first time voters. I've heard a lot of people say that Obama wouldn't do things like that in a national election because he is black.

Fuck the Primary system and fuck Iowa and New Hampshire. Sorry, just had to get that off of my chest.
|
It doesn't end today unfortunately, woops.
And yeah, fuck Iowa. I'm sick of hearing how great they are. It's ridiculous that they get all these benefits, like to their futile, tax-robbing ethanol industry because of some flawed system. And I find it stupid how the delicate Iowans get upset over "attack ads"... leading politicians to make anti-attack ads, lol.

All the early states have a disproportionately huge impact on the election for no justifiable reason and they earn a ton of extra money because of it, yet the committees won't change it.
If you're a Michigan or Florida Democrat this Primary season, your vote doesn't count. It's even worse than the South Park voting episode.
|
Can you prove that? Or is it just that the early states happen to reflect a general trend? What's your solution?

The proof for Florida and Michigan Democrats having no vote? Both states (which play major roles in the actual election, unlike *gasp* Iowa and New Hampshire) had their national convention votes stripped by the DNC and candidates have withdrawn and are forbidden from campaigning in the states. They won't even accept write in ballots. The reason? They moved their Primary elections earlier than Feb. 5th, which is the date no state can cross besides these worthless little states. So if you're a Democrat, there's no reason to trek out through a foot of snow in the middle of January to vote in the Michigan primary, because most of the candidates have withdrawn from the ballot, you can't write anyone in, and our delegates won't be voting anyways.
The proof that Iowa and NH are the bottle neck for everything else? Nearly every "weak" candidate withdraws after those primaries/caucuses (caucii?) because the big $ supporters pledge to the winners of those states. Clinton was a rare exception.
The solution is a national primary, imo.

I hope that person wins who is the most independent from their party and the least part of the old boys network which both parties are part of. So that means Ron Paul for republicans. Not sure if that also means Obama for democrats. Basically, fuck the system and the established power clique.
And that ethanol stuff, that's crazy. Using food for car fuel and even subsidizing the ruining of food, haha. It's nuts.

we Iowans still love you all <3

The primary system is awful and totally undemocratic http://www.econ.brown.edu/fac/Brian_Knight/
Clinton was a rare exception. And the only reason why he was an exception is that he deliberately conceded Iowa because the governor of Iowa was in the race.

The primary system is really really bad. I think everyone can acknowledge that. At the same time, do you really think national primaries on the same day are the answer?
I am happy about the results though. John Edwards is finally picking up steam, like I've always wanted him to, and of course Obama is tops, which I am thrilled for.

A Romney or Clinton presidency would be disastrous for this country. Or Obama for that matter, we need Kucinich and Paul, who are the only ones worth voting for.

Huckabee might be a disaster, but they all have positives and negatives. Charismatic leader vs. experienced executive sort of thing. If I had a vote, it'd go towards Richardson.
