use google to find a good 'screen capture/recording program' its gonna be hard to find a free one or a trail version without a timer or a watermark though.
Also, if your computer isnt to good you might notice some slowdown when recording a game.
2 audio's i made..I also have a couple more on my youtube channel youtube.com/lokel337. I use record pad and fraps 2.6.0 ( I have the cracked version if you guys want me to post the link, I uploaded it on filefront). And I used windows movie maker to compress it all and make it a movie (I know it is horrible software).
try fraps, you might be able to tweak it to not lag your sc too much when you record it, then the only slow part would be to encode it into xvid or w/e. There's also this thing called vnc2swf (http://www.unixuser.org/~euske/vnc2swf/), which records to flash through the vnc protocol, but I don't think vnc is fast enough to transfer the game real-time. You may also want to look at this list (http://www.donationcoder.com/Reviews/Archive/ScreenCasting/) of screencasting programs

You sure? Recording SC isn't really that intensive. Perhaps you just had some settings incorrect? I'll try to make a little guide on how to setup camtasia to work with SC properly in a bit, once I finish what I'm supposed to be working on right now
Ok, here's the first part of my tutorial, the part that applies to Camtasia.
First, Open up Camtasia Recorder. Hit Capture -> Wizard. A window will pop up that will help you set up your recording options. You should only have to use the wizard once for all of your Starcraft recordings, as the settings are saved between sessions. Anyway, here's the setup that I use, going through each step of the wizard:
That last window displays the hotkeys that I use that work well in Starcraft, but you can use anything really, and can change them using the Options screen that comes next.
Finish the wizard, then go to Tools->Options. A window like the following should come up:
You'll probably want to click File Name Options to tell Camtasia where and how to save your videos.
Here is the really important part. You'll want to choose 30 frames/sec for the recording, and tell it to output uncompressed. This means that the video is not put through any specific codec before outputting, meaning it loses no quality. You could also use a lossless codec, like Techsmith's, but I prefer to output uncompressed because it gives me more options over programs to use with the output video, along with saving CPU time (compression happens during recording, so it could result in laggier recording).
Another note is that you could specify a different framerate, such as 25. Its really just a personal preference.
Here is where you can specify your hotkeys, pretty self-explanatory.
A few of these options can cause some pretty annoying things to happen, so I recommend you leave them like I have them, but you can change them if you like.
After that, hit ok and Camtasia should be ready to go! Just open up Starcraft, start a game/replay, And hit your record hotkey. When you're finished, hit the stop hotkey and Camtasia will save out the video file.
One thing to note is that you should always start a game/replay before starting to record. Because of how Starcraft deals with color palettes, it can cause your recording you mess up quite a bit if you go from the lobby screen into a game while recording.
Anyway, I'll try to get a VirtualDub/Xvid encoding tutorial up soon. Enjoy!
huh sorry for the bump, its urgent. Anyone out there currently making FPVOD with Camtasia 6? If so please PM me on how to not make it minimize SC when I start a recording. I used to do this a long time ago with Camtasia 4. But I don't have that anymore, its very long ago. Now I am stuck with a version 6 that wont let starcraft stay maximized. Any help is apprecieated, I am currently trying to find any lower versions. But no luck so far. I need to download an older version from torrents if no one has an answer. I'd rather use this new one because its nice and fresh looking. But since it does not allow a full screen program to run when you start a recording, I need the oldschool and out with the new.
