Lewis Hamilton has been subjected to racial abuse by spectators during a pre-season test in Spain.
The McLaren star was jeered and insulted when he moved between the McLaren motorhome and the team's garage at the Circuit de Catalunya, in Montmelo, near Barcelona, on Saturday.
Pictures taken at the circuit show some spectators aiming abusive gestures and mocking Hamilton by wearing wigs and dark make-up.
It is thought the abuse stems from Hamilton's rivalry last season with former team-mate Fernando Alonso, the Spanish two-time world champion, who is now at Renault.

There were a bunch of fans passing the line with their jokes and Montmelo's organization banned them, and cleared the situation.
Alonso and Hamilton are winners, and their charachters clashed last year. The press with their sentences out of context made the rest, that's why there're so much hating against Hamilton around the spanish supporters (as I guess there is against Alonso at the other side).
And about the racism, they are just making jokes, if Hamilton were white they will still make fun of him as they did with Shumacher before. Part of the supporting (or what they think supporting is) is make fun of the rival. I don't think it's right, but I don't think they're dangerous racist neither.
I can't believe that people think a whole country is racist because 10 people puts on some make up to make fun of a sports rival.
EDIT: Btw, it's Carnival here in Spain, people puts on shitty/cheap disguises and gets drunk. I know it looks like i'm supporting it or defending but far of my point, I'm just telling there are a bunch of idiots making stupid things but far from racists.

I'm a sports fan and have been many years following sports and I have seen spanish fanboys joking about rivals. They have shouted "monkey" to Oliver Khan (Bayer Munchen goalkeeper), for example, and there weren't international controversy. You can't make fun of a black guy? Then you're the one having a problem. As I said in my post, the ones crossing the line with their words were banned from the Montmelo Circuit. A bunch of retards does not make a whole country racist. I don't support that kind of supporting but I'm really against calling it racism(talkink about Alonso's fanboys, excluding the banned ones, those are probably racist fags).
I really hope more people in Spain had the same views I have, they will see that Hamilton is Alonso's twin from another country, same manners, same competitivity and same winner charachter, and therefore they won't hate him like they do, they will praise him the same way they do with Alonso.

Not wanting to call racism 'racism' because it was 'just a way to mock somebody' is an awful mistake which is made very often. =/
Sure, those people probably don't even think of themselves as racists and they just wanted to get at Hamilton, whom they blame for how much Alonso sucks ( ), but they did it in a racist way and authorities should punish that very hard immediately to make sure that everybody understands that racism is not acceptable.
It's actually a very common problem in Italian and (eastern) German football, I guess in Spain too. Every time somebody says 'it was just for fun, and not serious racism' the situation gets a little bit worse. Idiots might start to believe that it's 'normal' to distinguish people by their skin color or whatever.

You're being really ignorant if you can't tell the difference between an insult to a specific person and an ongoing insult to an entire race.
Just think how pissed you would get if someone insulted your family (mother, grandparents etc..), then imagine if it was common for many of the people in the world around you to insult your family for no reason. Everywhere you went you would be reminded of this insult, you can't get away from it and it becomes like a theme everywhere you go, most of the world is laughing at you.
If this eventually died down but some people refused to let it go, imagine how those people would make you feel. It would cut deep.

NO, they're idiots that believe that insulting a sports rival means supporting his idol. They insult him because he is Alonso's rival, not because he is black. That's why they aren't racist in my opinion. But hey! I don't know those retards, maybe they're.
For me racism is something more serious than calling black somebody, but your society (english and american) has a so long past on the issue that make the racism start even when people is just talking about colors. For ME, as an individual, describing somebody as black is not despective, but I know and understand that for YOU it is.
EDIT: And again, I'm not defending them, they were punished for what they did, and well deserved, but please, don't generalize to the whole country in a serious issue as racism is.

I think every country in the world has racists among the populous that's why reasonable people must stand up against it and shoot it down wherever it rears its ugly head. Saying "aww, they don't know better" or "they were only joking" is not good enough.
