Technically the middle of Canada is right by Winnipeg but population wise it really is Ontario and Quebec. 8 of the top 10 largest population areas are in Ontario (and the other 2 are in Quebec). So having it in Toronto would be a fair skew towards the larger population. Also if you look at NASL they choice Toronto specifically because out of every city in the world Toronto has the highest viewership (by a large margin apparently) so it does make sense.

Western Canada has a larger population than Eastern as of the last census, but that is aside from the point. If they were set on 3 locations I don't see why it couldn't have been Calgary or Edmonton instead of BC. Its somewhat frustrating as an Alberta player to know that at the minimum to fly to any of these 3 areas its minimum 600round trip + a place to stay food etc. I do not play competitively anymore, but I can say that in the past when I was competitive in war3 C&C and other games featured at WCG, the cost has been prohibitive to fly out east, and honestly Van costs even more so that doesn't help things at all. I understand the reasons for doing what they have done, its just frustrating. The Toronto vs Canada thing is something that goes way beyond Sc2, don't take it personally.
