But I followed TSL2 more closely. - The organization was just perfect : Hot_Bid + R1CH > all - The atmosphere and hype were incredible : Mondragon's comeback, Idra's supposed invincibility, people we didn't expect did amazing in the ladder qualifs, Kolll confirming or not his WCG success, abusers (rofl at Such An Abuseful Day), drama aka cancel CC, Nony's manners in the finals, etc. - The schedule was awesome, I was in France at this time, and I had pizza + beer + TSL for dinner at every playoffs game. - Huge prizepool back then, and still the biggest for a foreign tournament.

YEEAAAAA well, half-way through anyways Seriously, 2008 was the golden age of TL.net community videos and events: Awesome Broodsports, TL-Attack!, Grudgematches (v GG.net) and of course TSL Why can't we get such great community VODs to watch and re-watch anymore?

I remember thinking of Nony vs Idra as being the finals, I don't believe I even watched the actual finals, haha. Still remember moments where Idra was transferring SCVs and Nony attacked in as the SCVs were moving, created a buffer, and caused Idra to hold off the attack relatively easy when it looked like Nony was going to steamroll him. I remembered having NO idea who 90% of the players were, RANDOMLY liquibetting, and going nearly 80%+ with my random guesses, and being rank like 2 or 3 liquibet. Was so close! Only had followed the foreign BW scene at that point.

But my favorite TSL moment was from 2. It was Nony breaking into IdrA's ramp in game five of their Ro8 series. Absolutely beautiful! The thing I love about TSLs are that I care about basically every player in the brackets. And even when there are matches where I don't know the participants, the artwork and casters and backstories make me care about it regardless. I love my OSLs and MSLs, but TSLs are major events in my year.

I remember having chills up and down the spine every time i saw the intro. Dreiven vs Mondragon was probably one of the most fun to watch games of broodwar+ Show Spoiler + (not only because of the upset. The game itself was entertaining). And 3 protoss in the semi-final we dont usually see in any korean tournment. On March 18 2011 04:05 Latham wrote: TSL 1... The mysterious announcement with the countdown and all had everyone wet their pants from excitement. That tourney had everything : professional organisation, awesome casters, stellar play, drama, upsets, you name it... And the finals... OMG THE FINALS!!! That comeback was soooo insane. TSL2 was really good too, but somehow had me less excited than TSL1 (except for Tyler winning, and the epic CC cancel). And I have to admit that I am even more pumped for TSL 3 than the previous ones. The players roster is the sickest ever, the casters are great, the maps pool is good, and it is even broadcasted in Korea. What more could you ask? + Show Spoiler + You could ask a Zerg win, ok... Or Huk winning

Now look at how far TL has come: Korean progamers competing on even terms with the best the foreign scene can muster. Who could have imagined this back when all we had was a hype poster and cryptic moderator posts. I'm kinda excited is what I'm trying to say, i guess.

The growth of the scene since SC2 has just been phenomenal, and TL has grown alongside.

I think those of us who were huge SC1 / BW days in 1997-2000 have had a reason to come back and check out SC2. I knew SC became a competitive esport in Korea, but didn't realize just how big the scene was. Glad to see TL growing by leaps and bounds!
