oh, in what circumstance.. People here aren't that self-conscious I think, lots of smokers just about any party you go to. It recently got strictly regulated in restaurants etc over here but the owners are reluctant to enfore the new rules in fear of losing customers. :O

I don't mind at all (it being that expensive. ). and second hand smoke affects me when I have a sore throat or anything similar, not when I'm perfectly healthy though.

This is for your standard run-of-the-mill pack of camel lights. Occasionally (maybe once every few weeks) camel offers a buy-one-get-one deal. The packs cost a little bit more on average, but you can usually get two for about $4. As for the poll, I've already been cutting back a lot because this is more expensive than where I went to school (where I could get packs for under $3.) I'm in the middle-late stages of quitting where I'm back to just smoking socially when I drink. I feel I'm doing pretty good compared to 4 months ago when I was doing over a pack a day.

Personally, I think smoking should be banned, but I guess it'll never happen as long as governments are making billions from excise taxes. And it's like mandatory for every hot chick under 25 to smoke here. Unbelieveable how many of them do.

Nicotine addiction isn't fun. Now easing into the banning of smoking is different. That's what the US is going towards right now by making certain restaurants, bars, and public places non smoking. As they ease into things, the only places you will be able to smoke in about 5 years is your car and your house (my guess.)

edit: i don't smoke a lot though so the price doesn't really affect me. in new york marlboros are like 7.50 a pack, camel 7.00, anything less and you're better off smoking tree bark

it is a little worse but weed isn't addictive, and the average pot smoker smokes a lot less than average people who smoke cigarettes (i dont know how much a really heavy pot smoker smokes but i doubt it even comes close to 10 cigrarettes a day, 20 is out of the question)

im using snus (snuff) instead of smokes (i smoke sometimes tho). in sweden more than 1 person out of ten is using snus("snuff"). tobacco you put under your lip you know.. ppl use it instead of cig's. it's very popular in norway too. it's much "safer" than smoking. "The number of tobacco related diseases in Sweden is the lowest in Europe." . http://www.swedish-snus.com/ <-- ggogo order now!!

Generally speaking, inhaling second hand smoke could be avoided by you simply not going to those places. Stop bitching, pussy. What's two years off your life anyhow? You can't enjoy shit when you're that old. No, I don't smoke.

It's not just "a little" worse, it's a lot worse. I know plenty of pot smokers who smoke more than 5 cigarettes worth of weed a day. Since it's been brought up. I don't think the government should have any say in whether or not a bar, club, or restaurant allows smoking. It should be up to the owners of said establishments. That's another topic, though.

In Finland, the tax on cigarettes just rose a month or so ago. Some history: They first reduced the taxes due to the easily available option of importing your own cigarettes and alcohol from cheaper countries (such as Estonia) -- made possible by the EU (European Union) -- along with the the alcohol taxation, but later on decided to increase the taxes on cigarettes even further up than they were before. Which is a smart thing to do, to say the least. They've been trying to follow the lead of other Scandinavian countries by initiating a law which completely bans smoking in restaurants and such places alike, but it has received a poor reception from the ever-so-stubborn Finns. Hopefully they'll push the law through, though; judging from the outcome in other Scandinavian countries, it seems to be an excellent choice of action. Currently a regular sized pack (20 cigarettes) costs: LM 3:60euros Marlboro 4:10euros The currency rating today 29th April 2005: 1.00 Euros is 1.29 US Dollar. 1.00 US Dollar is 0.77 Euro. The cost of other cigarettes is around them, and most likely in the same proportion as they are in Your country. -habitual smoker for years; j.
