After long speculation JJu, another old-gamer has announced his retirement. He says he doesn't regret his decision, but wishes he would have given it his best when he had the opportunity.
I saw this in Manifesto7's profile and thought it was appropriate. >.<
Back then, around about Gilette the three big in form zerg trio were July Gorush and Jju.
Jju is my all time favourite Zerg player. He is kind of the Kingdom of Zerg. When he wins he wins in such entertaining ways, has the talent to beat anyone; one of the only non-Savior zergs to beat an in-form oov (in a stunning 2-0 win, one of which was the famous ensnare on wraiths victory) Much like kingdom he can really, really blow. Losing two bo5 ZvZ series back to back and choking bad on a few occasions. But he always remained one of the few players to maintain a low econ aggressive style. When Samsung Khan had their bursts of glory, Jju was always their key player alongside the likes of Sigamari and Stork.
I also like how he is always full of expression, when something goes wrong or right you can really tell. I also liked how he was loyal to his roots back at SOUL before he moved to Khan, when Samsung Khan won the first Kespa cup, he was the MVP and said in an interview first thing he wanted to do was buy all his ex-teammates at soul dinner.

And also his cocky remarks about ZvP. What the hell.
One moment he was like, "ZvP is easy". After winning a series vs Pusan,"ZvP is hard."
In honor of JJu we should make a thread called "Post your JJu Face!" where everyone posts a picture of themselves making the distorted frown curl followed with a confused stare.

His 5 pool failure to lurker/scourge win vs Vical was the stuff of LEGEND. LEGEND.

Yesterday at the Khan exercise meet they announced this as well - I believe he's going into the army (my friend was translating for me as they talked about it.) He recieved a glass plaque, flowers and some other presents. January cried when she made a speech about his retirement (the daum cafe and fanclub captains were also very upset.) He was amazing yesterday - full of energy and kindness towards the fans. He led all of us in an exercise routine and gave us all alot of fun memories of his time as a Khan player. I got a couple of pictures of him which I'll be posting later on today (and on my site.)
As an addition to this post another member of the Khan team - Freedom is now on a one year hiatus due to family issues (I think this is accurate if my friend was translating his speech properly.) He said he hopes to return after one year's absence.

Yes and no. According to the FiFo article he's taking a 1 year leave to go back to college and continue his studies. He needed a "recharge" or something like that.

Ah (she's learning Korean at the mo so we weren't 100% sure of the reasoning behind his departure.) He's a nice guy, but tbh I don't think it'll do him or Khan any harm if he takes a hiatus. Thanks for clearing up the motivation
JJu - Byun Eun Jong - 변은종 Race: Zerg Birthdate: 23/02/1983 Current Team:Samsung KHAN (Captain) RETIRED T_T Former Team(s): Soul Nickname(s): Silver Bell, Straight Zerg Trademark: 5/4 pool, being unpredictable Achievements: NHN Hangame OSL - 4th Place KeSPA Cup 2005 - 1st Place (KHAN) (MVP of Tournament) Pringles 2 MSL - 3rd Place (Tied with Nal_ra) Photo
Bio "There's nothing but a straight (punch) for a man" - An infamous saying by Byun Eun Jong. An amateur boxer turned Starcraft gosu, Eun Jong has been one of the most successful Zergs of all time. He has acquired the nickname "Straight Zerg" from that saying of his, as well as his 'straight' style and is also known as "Silver Bell" (Eun - Silver, Jong - Bell) among team mates and fans. Eun Jong has had a long career and has been one of the most unpredictable players ever.
Eun Jong started out small in team Soul. His time with Soul was very special to him, and he treasured his roots. After winning the first KeSPA cup with KHAN and being named MVP, Eun Jong remarked that the first thing he would do with his money is buy all his old team mates from Soul dinner. His friendships in Soul also lead to the match between himself and Seo Ji Soo (Tossgirl) in Superfight 3. His time at Soul was also critical for his development. Despite posting mediocre results in tournaments in this time period, he was always a feared user of the swarm. However, good results were just around the corner as he placed 4th in NHN Hangame OSL.
In 2004, Eun Jong, Park Tae Min (GoRush) and Park Sung Jun (Julyzerg) were considered the 3 most feared zergs and dominated left right and center. And in the following year Eun Jong was recruited into Samsung KHAN and his presence immediately improved the teams success. Within 6 months of being recruited KHAN had won the first ever KeSPA Cup in 2005 for Samsung KHAN by beating Kim Jun Yung (GGPlay) in the 7th set securing their 4-3 victory over Hanbit. Eun Jong also showed a new found unpredictability and a willingness to use 5 or 4 pools as well as using obscure units and spells like ensare. With this 'new' level of skill came a new appearance; he began to wear sunglasses in matches. This became somewhat of a Eun Jong trademark.
Eun Jong carried through his unique style of play to this day. He is considered quite a fearsome ZvZ opponent (despite being a well-rounded player) especially in 2005-2006 and completely dominated on "Rush Hour" having a near perfect record. Eun Jong has remained modest throughout his career and in UZOO MSL revealed that his goal was not to win UZOO MSL, but to simply attain a Seed. From there, he said, he would move on to take first place. Eun Jong's next big success came in Pringles 2 MSL where he placed 3rd Equal with Kang Min (Nal_ra). Also in 2006 he became famous for his 'neck roll' ceremony.
Eun Jong made somewhat of a blunder in an interview by saying ZvP is easy; which he later regretted losing almost all of his remaining ZvP's. Eun Jong stepped up to the next level in 2007 by adopting a 'Smart' strategy by beating Park Ji-Ho (PuSan) 2-0 overcoming his losing streak in ZvP. By out thinking his opponent and playing a smart game he was able to attain a decisive victory, and in his winners interview said "ZvP is hard" - admitting his previous mistake.
Throughout his career it has been impossible to tell how far he will go. On the day he could be the hottest player in the world, or a complete dud. This is one of the many reasons the fans love him, you never know what you're going to get. Also, he is one of the more 'emotional' players as you can tell what he is thinking by the expression on his face. He certainly is a fun player to watch and support.
In the words of Eun Jong himself
I may not be the best player right now but I think I can beat any 'best' players. I'll beat all the best players and become the best player. Watch me.
Eun Jong currently captains Samsung KHAN which in first place in proleague at the moment.

DOES THIS MEAN JJU -> AIRFORCE = POSSIBILITY?
I'm kicking myself for not getting my friend to ask him directly yesterday. I was too busy taking photographs. If the news isn't released officially (or hasn't already been) as to what he's up to next I'll ask one of the other Khan members next time I see them.

The coach did say something about family problems yesterday at the fan meeting. I definitely caught those words. I suppose that means his family is pressuring him to continue his studies in addition to him needing a recharge or something.
She was also talking about the army when she announced Jju retiring. I caught the sentences, "it is sad for Starcraft players that the army problem exists." It may not mean that Jju is going to the army directly, but I suppose part of his (official) reason for quitting is the realization that the clock is ticking.
I should've asked him when I had the chance. I had the chance to talk to Freedom briefly and I asked him if he was sad he was leaving, and he said he indeed very sad, and looked like he was about to cry.

Nothing like that. I just happened to be at the event when they announced the developments and I was cheeky enough to walk up to all the players and ask them stuff.
Edit: had a list of random info I found out from talking to the player here, but deleted them to post them later when the report is up.
Seriously, I dont see anyone else in samsung worthy enough to be captain... JJu despite his lack of good results was old and experienced enough for the other team members to look up to, this made him a good captain IMHO. So who can replace him? Stork is the most probable candidate but he's a really shy guy... I dont think he has any leadership skills whatsoever . If January is insane enough to pick FBH as the next captain, then we would be seeing team oriented crotch dance ceremonies for proleague matches to come(I doubt most of TL.net wouldn't enjoy it). Jangbi is just meh. I seriously think this isnt going so well for Khan..
