Just the first quirks of thought on describing 1v1or 2v2. The thingies at the arrow roots are probably supposed to denote different races.

For example, take "surround". The typical example is 4 zergling surrounding a dragoon: 4 + = (I'm simplifying dragoon and zergling here... this way, there are still symbolic elements present in the pictographs, but are easy enough to write in less than two seconds.) If we wanted different connotations of surround, we could also have four zealots, four scvs, or four probes, four whatever, with another unit in the middle. If we wanted to depict mining, we could have an scv/drone/probe radical on the left and a mineral radical on the right, and harvesting would be scv/drone/probe and gas. 5 pool? we could draw the number five, (well, techically 4) on top of a drone radical, and a ling on the right. Or, we could put 5 and drone on top, and ling on the bottom. We could do similar things for 8/9 gate, joyo rush, etc... With our radicals, we can pretty much describe anything that happens in SC. However, if we're crazy enough to do abstract nouns, things get tough. For example, say we wanted to express "peace". We could have a ling, lot, and rine together. But we could also interpret that as "basic" or "early (game)". For "economy", we could put a drone/scv/probe together. But then again, that could also mean "worker". Any comments/ideas?

After a few centuries Boxer would invent the printing press and the rest would be history, depicted in small things we would call "books", telling the future generations of how their ancestors first started using symbols to communicate with each other.

Heck, we could make some paint from dead animals and/or herbs and start smudging on walls in our rooms! After a while most of the tl.netters would understand why it is so important to have these letters and would start creating their own, depending on which part of tl.net they live in. We would then have many different groups using more and more different symbols. Those symbols would still change, though, as new tl.netters would have to learn them from either seeing them on walls or picking them up when they see others scribbling around. Some of the symbols sets would then further be used to describe sounds we make when uttering them while others would remain very graphic representations of what they depict, although with a ever broader meaning. Well. Thats this topic pretty muched owned. But even so, the symbol thing sounded pretty cool. Like a private TL language. It is both ridiculous and cool.

Since the three races have three different spoken languages, we should make the symbols ideographic instead of phonetic. This way, we can have certain radicals, and then with these radicals, we can form more complex words. For example, take "surround". The typical example is 4 zergling surrounding a dragoon: 4 + = (I'm simplifying dragoon and zergling here... this way, there are still symbolic elements present in the pictographs, but are easy enough to write in less than two seconds.) Wait, aren't you making up a new language just like chinese but for bw? i really like your surround, it looks cool =)

Supposedly, ancient Hebrew was pictographic in nature too... and Egyptian hieroglyphs? Eitherway, let's start an SC language!
