Due to popular demand, I have decided to put a little more effort into this OP. This is my first season watching proleague, and this mysterious white male made me laugh harder than I have in a long time.
Background: The camera continually panned to our good friend Daniel, who professed his love to Samsung Khan manager January. Hilarity ensued. With the help of TL, we have found multiple Daniel spottings. It's kind of like a game of "Where's Waldo" now.
First, I want to say a big THX to every TL-member out there. To be honest, I thought that this community would trash my appearances to death, but this thread and the various messages show that there IS a lot of love here on TL, even for a semi decent strange looking guy from Vienna, Austria. This thread should prove this forever, I really enjoyed reading ur messages, I never thought that this would happen - so propz to all of u guys - THX to all of ya, I wish you also the best, I declare u guys as my friends too! U guys here on TL made me, I hope u enjoyed it, I'm sorry if I may have offended you but tbh, I think most ppl here enjoy a western guy acting crazy over there.
Let me just make it clear that I wasn't intending to troll nor was this thingy a big show for me, it just showed my passion for the korean SC scene and my support for Stork and Samsung Khan for years, now i could finally get to Korea - sadly I am back in Austria so no more games with me. I partly have to disagree with Chill, sadly, some of my cheering cards weren't even shown in the mbc studio nor were there any lights at me when I was there - I had another message to january and I even wrote a message to a girl - those moments were not captured because the director/cameraman decided to do so - they can decline everything if they want to do so. Sometimes I even was suprised to see me so I acted goofy lil wayne style - I'm sorry . Khan fans are really upset because of the fact that fans like KT get more support, I even saw the director passing a cup of coffee to like one of the biggest female Flash groupies! (she made like 1000 pictures of him while he played vs light) - while many Khan fans weren't even shown on other days. Also there were not many fans when the games started, mbc has to do something about this and some of my sightings may be to blame for this. Maybe free drinks could change this I thought?!
To prove my support for stork, I brought a present for him from Austria and I think he really enjoyed it (he thought I m from Australia first - its hard for Koreans to spell it..). I even have a picture of him on my fridge since he won a starleague so yes - I m a big fan but pls don't blame me. I met KT/MBC and Samsung Players and they were really friendly, even when some of them may have lost the game. Because of my crazy OSL appearance, Stork came out of the vip area just for me, I received a sponsor price money of 50.000 Won for snacks for the best ceremony and OGN officials gave me the poster stork signed, I was so flattered, I really felt love & support by the koreans for the stranger so THX to all of them - there's this huge OSL promo poster in my Austrian appartement signed by him - I always wanted something like this!
I want to point out 2 ppl who really supported me when I visited the games:
braq aka Harry - the asian guy with the glasses u see next to me often. He speaks english very well and is like one of the biggest stork fans so we instantly connected, he is really a good guy. He waited 5 hours (!!!) for the OSL games and just gave me a few of his front seats, without him u wouldn't even see me, so many ppl were waiting for the games. He also has contact to firebathero , they even played a couple of games and share a nickname.
The second one is the girl who was with me at the OSL, her name is So Yeun. Even though she doesn't like electronics nor did she even know about SC in korea at all, she came with me - supported me and she told me that she really had a wonderful time at the games. TBH, she is like the cutest and nicest girl on this planet, her signs and cheerings speak for it...I may be in love, lol - I had tears in my eyes when I had to leave
Here are a few shots to prove it, THX to all of ya! (if ya guys want to know more/interview/pm i don't know - I m busy for a few days but later - I can answer every question. I have a lot more to tell about my experiences and can help if u guys want to go there)

is this guy on tl?
Yes, he posted in the LR of one of the other matches he went to. Don't remember which one though.
My favorite white guy moment was when two dudes had posters during a MSL a while back, where one of the dudes signs said "ULRALICK MY BALLS." It made me lol pretty hard.
Ye, I remembered him when reading this thread aswell from Stork more than the coach! He had me cracking up, which at that time ( 4 in the morning ) wasn't that good cause I waked up my parents .

More like since he got to Korea hes been at every single match as humanly possible.
THIS GUY JUST SO HILARIOUS! Rofl, I can't tell if hes legitimately 100% into it or trolling, he seems like hes forcing it, but that's still hilarious he would take the effort to do it every game.
I remember the vuvuzela fan of stork that shit was hilarious too

Woah that was actually her reaction to the sign? Please post the vod, seems hilarious! Edit: Seems it was in great vs free, hope moktira or nevake posts vod soon!!
Hope TLers in Korea can buy Daniel a drink or something, let him know he's appreciated. He can be our representative from the West rather than Idra lol.

Yeah, 'cause Australia is so far to the west, right?

Oh god. That January sign. That face he's making while he reads the words out loud. What a hero.
I hope the Korean commentators recognized it as a joke and didn't come out thinking he was really trying to steal January from her husband, rofl. I second the request for a translation of the commentators in the minute after that...

That is more amusing than what I thought it would be. I hope someone mentions this in Korea in future games.
i've been learning all day for my korean exam tomorrow (besides of a few sc2 matches ofc) and this thread totally made my day. i just can't stop laughing...
Haha, yesterday's match was full of lols. First we get Jangbi looking into the camera while still in the booth, and then this guy. The commentators' reactions make this even more hilarious.

Who cares about trivial things like an existing marriage when a handsome young passionate white dude like Daniel is proposing?
I like how, clearly (at least to me), he's not playing it off for the camera. I mean sometimes they just show him in the audience and he's already sitting there praying or doing his chant. He couldn't possibly have known the camera was going to show him.

Yah, but the cameraman jumps to stuff they find interesting or funny.

No. Before they put you on camera, giant lights in the audience shine on you. It's pretty obvious you're going to be on TV. Alternatively, you can nod to the camera man and he moves his camera to put you in the shot. Again, pretty obvious you're going to be on TV.

Ahh okay. It seems like it might be a chicken and egg problem. Although they do show people in the audience that aren't doing anything of significance. So I guess they could just be looking around in the audience and when Daniel realizes this then he does something entertaining.

The world may have spontaneously imploded.
In an alternate universe, it did. In this one, however, it did not - as evident by our existence.

Daniel is a beast. I love seeing him in the middle of random matches. Perhaps whenever see see stork play, Daniel will be there to cheer him to victory.
pure gold. I think its awesome that foreigners show interest like this.
Kind of on topic, does anyone remember the white guy (i think he was bald), who held up pretty funny signs in korea while tasteless was casting? I believe it was on gomtv O_O I would love to see compilations of him as well xD
My favorite White Guy moment is 2 guys in the crowd at a Jaedong game with a sigh that says "I'd go gay for Jaedong" and the other's sign says "Me too" :D

Lol this is awesome. I wish there were more people like you. We need to show them that foreigners love watching bw as well, and that the progamers have fans all over the world. Every time they're interviewed by foreigners it always goes like "-do you know you have many fans from out of korea ? -Oh what, I didnt know that"

I always found it heartwarming that korean idols, not only starcraft, but also signers make the time to meet their fans. Teams got fandays, kpop group got fanmeetings. It really shows that they enjoy you being their fan and makes it all worth more.

I have a lot more to tell about my experiences and can help if u guys want to go there)
The gift:
Stork with my present:
Propz to you TL, Thank you!
Oh wow! You are my hero! Good luck with everything. But I'm sad we won't see your appearance anymore. It made Korean SC so much more fun to follow.

Awesome! You were a true delight to see while watching SC. I only wish you were still here to bring a little foreign spark during the BW games. Mad props for the fanboyism and I hope more people can follow your lead.
These kinds of posts and stories are what drives TL, and the scene as a whole, forward. I love reading this stuff, makes me want to go even more just to tell my tale!

Daniel, you are a legend. Well deserved gifts and dedicated thread ^^ glad you found it.
Also, needs to edit in his reply in the OP -> Spotlight, that IdrA rap thread has nothing on this!
I did earlier.
Oh, there it is >< I re-visited this thread via my browser history and overlooked it somehow (I did go back to the OP, but I guess I missed it cause I went straight to rewatching the videos - sorry!)
Regardless, spotlight thissss ^^. His passion is an inspiration to us all~
Stork is awesome. That's why he have the best fans, like Daniel and the vuvuzela guy. As long as Stork is playing BW I will never stop following the scene. Also, it's nice to see that we still have some western hardcore fans showing up on TV, now after the release of SC2. It shows that not all of us are buying into SC2 as a replacement to BW.

Np Np, I'm doing my best job keeping up with the thread and putting any updates.
I am speechless. This is amazing, so much passion! I like the passion and the croud energy for Starcraft. We don't only need foreign players on par with korean pros, but foreign fans as well.
Am I really the first to say this? If you proclaim your love to a man - when you're a man - the way "Daniel" does, it's because you're homosexual. Why would you scream that on live TV, if not just to get attention?
If you're just a fanboy, do fanboy stuff, don't overact like a fangirl... You're rediculing/making a parody of us all.

tbh, starcraft isn't THAT big that someone that doesn't follow the sc scene to go through so much just to get some attention from TL and SC fans.

Sorry kid, you just don't get it. Best stay out of the way of those who do.
There's so much poetry in this story.. Also one of my favourite moment in my bw memories was the Much pylon earth vs FBH, that was an awesome act of love and pride.. Samsung Khan it's such a passionate team

This guy is a legend. I love the commentators too, they are enjoying seeing this kinda stuff and make it entertaining. Props to Daniel, and Mrmin for translating
Huge shoutout from Stork on the DES interview (fomos version is disgusting as usual)
This past week, there's a foreign fan named Daniel who got caught on the camera a few times. He came from Vienna in Austria to come and see me, and he wanted to be mentioned in one of my interviews. In order to see more of my matches, he even delayed his flight by one day. He also gave me an artbook of Vienna as a present and I was thankful to him in various ways. He said that he is Stork's #1 fan in the western world confidently. What made me feel nice that he likes Samsung Electronics because of me, and so he bought a Galaxy S and was bragging about it. I was really thankful to him, and I'll play even harder so I hope he will continue to watch me from overseas.

Nah, same interview, just the fomos guys usually paraphrase as much as they can and condense things to make them "boring". The DES version is almost always better.

Lol wow that signed poster, what an awesome gift to be able to go to Korea, watch pro matches live for aw eek and see his favorite player and after all that, get to meet Stork, and win a signed samsung khan poster awesome story
So glad you got to see this thread Daniel!! You are a legend. It's amazing all of the things you were able to do in your time in Korea, and it's soo awesome that Stork gave a shout out to you in his interview! I really hope that you'll be able to go back to Korea some day, because you made watching OSL that much better!!
ahh so Daniel is his name... Well all I have to say is that I admire how outgoing he is. I could never say that January is hot and chant on Stork with so much passion without feeling mondo embarrassed. Props to you Dan! Can't wait to see what you do next. =)

Don't bring down the deteriorating BW community like that. That we have passionate members like "Daniel" is a good thing. God forbid he also has a sense of humor.

Stay out of this forum.
Yeeeeah, I also have no idea how someone could come up with that from what Daniel did but he is definitely getting it all wrong
Either way holy shit the Stork interview, Daniel you will forever be the most legendary fan!
This guy is more awesome then the word would normally imply edit: btw when i hear daniel I think of that guy from amnesia and i hear 'daniel' chanting in a british accent

Meh, people are meant to have fun in any ways possible... There's nothing homosexual in what he was doing. It's called having fun, and I'm glad he did it that way. Anyways, if you were confident with your sexuality, being a little homo because really fun, because it makes people like you cringe.

Ehh I don't know why it's taking you so long to find your coat, but you've been in that closet for a pretty long time.
I have no idea how your could possibly be so ignorant btw, it's like you've never witnessed an actual sporting fan before. Being morose and unemotional are shitty qualities in a fan, and are only indicators of a lack of personality/confidence not some sort of masculine superiority(In fact it's likely the opposite). You deserve to have your Khan stripes revoked.
The confidence/personality Daniel had is what allowed him to show is support for Khan and Stork in such colorful ways. He emitted such pure crystallized man essence that he got to meet his favorite player and even got a shout out from him. Even if Daniel was homosexual that doesn't make his behavior any less awesome and you calling him out any less pathetic.
Daniel fighting, you're a inspiration to true esports fans!
Thanks for taking the time to post here Daniel. If you ever have time in the future I'd love to read a blog about your experiences over there, anything you found particularly funny, inspirational etc. (basically anything else you haven't already shared in this thread).
You made me laugh while watching the live streams, and I applaud your passion and courage in openly supporting your favourite player. You're a true BW fan and an inspiration!
Edit: Thanks Stoids for taking the time to put this thread together.
as i went through the stuff in the OP, although you can't hear him talking, i was even though able to hear his voice...especially in the .gif SONG BYONG GOO!
a piece of cupboard...3.000 ₩ a marker...1.500 ₩
seeing January's expression when she saw that sign...priceless
Good to see people are still visiting this thread, every time I see a cheerful on stream I think about Daniel. Also Samsung/Stork games are visibly more lively now, what an impact he's made
If Jaedong makes it to the Ro16 next OSL I'm definitely going to try for a signed poster ><
