I was thinking about how Batman is really just the greatest superhero of the DC Universe and how much crime fighting is awesome. How would you feel about abuse of Torrenters? Not like everyone who uses Bit Torrent gets beat up and thrown in jail, but maybe like I head over to Pirate Bay and upload something called "Crysis Warhead" that is really "fuck your computer really bad." Bad experiences tend to make people stray away from things. Thoughts?
Hello there I am taking an earthquakes class expecting an easy peasy college class. Not only is it boring as hell unless you have a hardon for geology, it has some difficult labs. I have to do some conversion problems but i have no idea on how to convert some of these figures. My professor hasn't really taught me on how to convert these things and my book has nothing on this besides the following formulas for P waves and S waves:
The formulas for P waves (alpha) and S waves ( beta)
a = square root of ( ( k + 4/3(u) ) / p )
B= square root of (u/p)
I have to find p which has to be in units of grams per cubic centimeters ( g/cm^3) and i can use either of these 2 formulas:
a = square root of ( ( k + 4/3(u) ) / p )
B= square root of (u/p)
given values for #1
k= (27 x 10^10 ) dynes / cm^2 a = 4.8 km/s u = (2.6 x 10^11) dynes/ cm^2 b= 3.0 km/s
i use b = square root of (u/p) because it is easier:
(3.0) km/s = square root of ( (2.6 x 10 ^11 dynes/cm^2)/ p )
here i get stuck, I have to square both sides but I am unsure of what happens when you square 3.0 km/s. Does it become 9 km^2/s^2? or 9 km/s^2?
I assume its 9 km/s^2 and the equation becomes:
p(9.0 km/s^2) = 2.6 x 10^11 dynes/ cm^2
p = (2.6 x 10^11 dynes/cm^2)/ (9.0 km/s^2)
i dont know how to convert dynes/cm^2 into g/ cm^3 although g/cm^2 exists, also i don't how the hell to convert km/seconds^2 into grams/ cm^3
i am completely lost and have 17 hours to do 6 of these problems

First off it's not a rant; i'm just frustrated. Having below 40% or something win rate against terran isn't bad for me. I don't care about it; but it's the way I've been beaten.
I'm a protoss user, so 1a2a3a does work sometimes, especially at my level. But, the matchup has been killing my confidence. I get raped either one of two ways:
1) Terran does some quick vulture harass after FD, followed with tanks and vults to use the timing window. I have absolutely no idea when to get leg speed, and playing with reavers just seem to fuck it up more because I can't control it very well. 2) He camps, taking his third, waits for 2/2 upgrades then pushes out with 200/200 supply. I have half the map, so around 20-25 gates in total with arbs (hate carriers), but upgraded tanks just melt pretty much anything.
Basically, I just want C to C+ levelled Terran players that are willing to play me in the weekend on iCCup.
and also, I saw something about op tl-train? where players get together and train specific builds over and over again. I went there and there was one person who was afk T-T
I had to go to Fukuoka in Japan unexpectedly last week and despite spending almost 40 hours without sleep (in Incheon airport and Japan itself.) somehow photos seemed like a fun way to pass the time.

Finally on the way home back in Seoul they were playing highlights from Aha vs Memory at GOM TV Classic S2 (which I went to weirdly enough.)
Much has changed since the WWI build, and not necisarily for the better. The gas mechanic seems somehow more retarded since it automatically refills the refinery now. There is a cute new spell for the nullifier and a lot of spells have been moved around. I should add 2 gate zeal is retardedly strong vs zerg. Reapers are worth using now, and overall the art for protoss has turned amazing, I would say mostly the art is finished on the toss. High Templar are beautiful, Archons are sexy, stalkers and dark templar look how they should have its great. More on SC2 later, I will add I had one game vs machine where the game felt pretty much like SC and was just as fun, gg machine(I lost, ;_; )
Team Liquid, sorry I missed out on the TL dinner but it was nice seeing alot of you for again, and it was nice to meet many. Here's to an epic Blizzcon
As it turns out, my standard play has been suffering as of late. My late game TvZ used to be really up there, but recently I've just been abysmal at TvZ in general. Likewise, my TvP remains equally bad, and my TvT was always just below average.
My victories: TvP, Biomech timing rush TvZ, Valkyrie-Wraith-Dropship (hilarity ensued) TvZ, all in SCV TvT, 2 Fact Vult ZvT, 3 hatch ling ZvP, Mutaling All-In ZvT, Mutaling timing attack ZvP, mass crackling elimination race vs. carriers ZvP, Slow Drop
as you can see, my victories are all relatively non-standard builds, and my losses are all standard. Clearly something is up here, and it's probably my shitty mechanics. Any tips on improving mechanics?
What did you all call other people at blizzcon that you met from tl? Did you actually get to know their real name or did you call them by their alias on the website? I just read a blog about ghostclaw and it seemed like they just called him that.
Here's my side of the story. The following order of events may be slightly wrong.
Blizzcon day 1. For the first few hours, the people I've met up with are Pano, Blabber, Sigrun and his cousin (for the most part). Sigrun and his cousin go off doing their own thing. Sometime after noon, I meet Etter, omgbnetsux, haji, neo. I tell Etter that I'm basically a lurker, ID Ghostclaws. "As in Ghost and Claus as in Santa Claus?" "No as in claws" *hand gesture* "Oh claw"... Nothing related happens for the rest of the day.
So after the dinner at BJs I go home, later seeing

So on Day 2 the topic somehow comes to my ID again. A couple of times Etter would just say "GHOSTCLAWW!" like it was something epic a superhero would say. Then Etter tells us that at the hotel he didn't know/remember Waterdragon's name (but he somehow remembered Ghostclaw), so he just called him Ghostclaw. Apparently the conversation went something like: "Why do you keep calling me Ghostclaw? I'm waterdragon!" "No, you're Ghostclawww!" So I'm still pretty much oblivious to what's happened, though it sounds like a good laugh, nothing big. And that's pretty much all I hear of the topic for the rest of Blizzcon.
And then, a little late, but after Blizzcon is over I see...

A Game without the Poke
Okay, this is the game with the guy I met on irc. I'm gonna ask him before I say who it was since I don't know if he wants me to or not. Let's just say it's a short game.
An introduction of grand proportions
I start of the game normal. My happy 12 hatch chugging away at growing up. You know, scouting and the like.

Well, I feel weird because he's not expoing or pushing when he should. I decide to just continue with my 3 hatch muta... A bad decision.

The Ending Whatnot
I'm getting better I think. However, in some ways getting better means that I have to stop doing fun things like ranking my sunkens lower than my enemy. By the way, I don't complain about BDing that was what a person said word for word in a DoTA game I played.

K, so I was just mass gaming on iccup for a while and boom I stumble upon this guy. So during the beginning of the game everything was going well, around 17:10'ish things start getting fishy. See when I massed my units and decided to eliminate the guy's containment, all of a sudden I lose control of all my units!!! I keep clicking and stuff but for some reason, the dragoons didn't move but only squirmed around the huge marble plateau and then my units stop doing anything when I click on them to do something. Its as if my entire army is being controlled by my opponent!! Then one by one my units automatically starts going to his containment, not the entire army but like one single unit at a time, of course I'm clicking like crazy but the units or any of my things don't even respond and they're circling around like crazy until all my units starts heading over him, it was really as if he suddenly was controlling my army. After I lost my army, I quickly check my keyboard and mouse to see if anything is wrong, nope everything is connected, my immediate conclusion is this guy is a hacker.
I've been trying to install The Rosetta Stone on and off for the past few months. Previously I tried other programs to learn Korean/Spanish, such as "Passport to 25 Languages" which was actually not too bad, but for some reason like 10% of the words were translated wrong in Korean as opposed to what it said in English so I said 'FUCK DAT SHIT'.
Now that I finally installed Rosetta Stone, the program where the 70-year old fucker on the television tells you how it is an amazing program that'll get you laid in any country or some shit, I try it out. So I open up the first level and I shit my pants:
There is NO english words to combine the Korean to. I've searched far and wide and I honestly can't tell what some of these pictures are supposed to mean. If anyone has any Rosetta Stone experience I need it soon or my laptop is taking a ride out of my window. How can you learn a language if you can't make a comparison between words with your own?

So as everyone knows, the translator that blizzard uses is completely inept, and doesn't even show up to translate the GRAND FINAL INTERVIEW? Ridiculous.
As usual, after the game Nick was getting ready to do his 2-question post-game interview, but as you can see, they start to freak out as they realize no one is in sight.
Panorama and a few other TL guys basically push me up to the stage. One of the Blizz staff members asks me, "Can you translate?" I respond, "Yeah, I can." I had talked to Nick earlier about the possibility of me translating on stage, and I guess he remembered because he helped pull me onto the stage and we were able to successfully conduct the interview!
I must admit I was a bit nervous. Although this was not my first interview with a progamer, it was the first one I had conducted with 40 TLers taking pictures with their cameras, multiple video cameras running, and hundreds of spectators. My legs were shaking the entire time, but I tried to keep my voice as steady as possible. The good news is that Blizzard knows that I saved their butts, so hopefully they'll invite me back next time. mnm and tasteless both said that they'd see if they could get me to be the official translator.
The funniest moment of the night was when some random guy wanted to take a picture with me after the interview. I don't know why someone would want to take a picture with the translator, but whatever, I'll enjoy my 15 minutes of fame!

As most of you should know I'm a Terran player and I'm by no means bad. I think I'm pretty decent and easily above average but recently playing iccup gives me chills. I totally lost my selfconfidence resulting in bad results and all-in strategies which mostly fail against good players.
I think I cannot win straight games anymore and I don't know why. When I push out a shuttle sneaks in my base and fucks up my timing is just one example of small things that really destroys my gameplay.
Also I struggle to finish off opponents even if I have an advantage. Maybe its just me as Terran who is easily cheeseable that makes me think like that, but I have the feeling that every mistake you make with terran is crucial. I'm not saying Protoss and Zerg are easily to play, but you can make more mistakes on the level I'm playing at.
For the ones who want to call me newby, I'm currently at B- level on iccup with a ~64% winratio, but its really hard to focus if you are mad and frustrated..
If you have anything that could cheer me up or anything you know what could help to gain self confidence in a game, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
Also I'm going to host op TL-Train on iccup to train "korean style" as there are not lots of opponents on B- and I'm going to mass game and get over my slump.

As most of you probably already know, I went to Mexico with my GF because of TL.net. She promised she'd give you guys something in return, and sing a song about StarCraft.
For simplicity reasons, I selected a simple song to rewrite lyrics for, and came up with Favourite Things from The Sound of Music.
If anyone has the karaoke (just instrumental, and please no MIDI files) version, or can come up with it, I'd greatly appreciate it. Otherwise we can't make this song.
Of course, if you reaally want to help us, you can always find nice star craft lyrics to another (cooler) song of which you do have the instrumental version, I can make her sing that too.
She's a pretty good voice (even if i say so myself), and is even considering making a career in singing, so you shouldn't worry it'd become some crappy song.
I've been meaning to mass game for weeks. Hell, I've been meaning to play for weeks. I don't want to play and only get two games in. How will I learn? So I look for an opportunity where I can put a few hours into Starcraft.
Perhaps Saturday, I thought, would be that perfect day. Unfortunately, I woke up a bit late, and by the time I got through lunch and my daily minimum of 30 minute TL run, my parents got home and I had to shop for a winter coat- which took five hours. By the time I arrived home, ate dinner, settled in, placated my family with various social activities and chores, it was almost midnight.
Which as we all know, means the Koreans have awakened. Given that I'm a d-, that just 'so happens' to coincide with me being raped, and possibly losing a game without killing a single enemy unit.
So perhaps Sunday? No, Scar Face, No- Sunday is your thanksgiving. Free time is simply unimaginable on such a holiday. I woke up, and showered. Ate lunch. I then had to clean the house [for family will be arriving], extend the drive way with my father, mow the lawn, clean the garage, and of course, eat dinner with the family. By the time that was over, I was distracted by reading Hot Bids amazing FE about the Zerg throne.
This happened to get me pumped. Finally, I was ready for some Starcraft! Who could stand in my way? Who? Oh wait...once again, its nearly midnight, which means, once again- the koreans shall stand in my way. Beyond that I will get owned by them and run away crying in a few hours, there's very little [read: none] games even on the D level, let alone the D- level.
