Most annoying is that when I talked to them recently I was told a price. People that pay the bill called back the next night and got told $20 a month higher. Checked online and the offer (priced locked in for 2 years, at least) is $5 higher than I was told. Call back and get an offer that matches the online offer (lawl), but still aren't willing to honor their original offer (and I wasn't told that it was limited time, act now, or anything of that sort - just that our internet and phone are old and we could save by bundling). Might still get the upgrade soon, but no confirmation yet as frugality is high on the list of current priorities. And a friend is about to get 35mb fios and likes to bring it up, though all my friends feel bad for how utterly horrid my internet is. I do feel sorry for blooddrunk. Didn't know it was still possible for someone to have slower internet than me.

then again the difference between connecting to korea vs. a server within the state. at the same time, I sort of doubt my wifi is actually, consistently 18mbps. maybe when i'm over a lan line, there is a central telephone switch across the street from my campus, so we probably have a mega fast internet connection.

"The United States is lagging behind the rest of the world in high-speed Internet connectivity, claiming eighth place in levels of broadband greater than 5 Mbps, Akamai's "State of the Internet" report shows. Seems, upload is having a bit of a bad day. Usually a bit more on par with the download. It's interesting reading this kind of stuff, you quickly realize how spoiled we are with internet connections in sweden. In our appartment all three of us have our own 100/100 connection which means we have about 300mbit in total both up and down here. A bit over the top yes, but why not when it costs like 6e/month each?

If you go to the speedtest.net page and click on World results on the top you can see yourself that it's 4th in the world for dl speed and 2nd for ul speed which is fantastic considering it's a very small country (Only 3 million people). We have these 3 fields that lithuanian scientists are really advanced which are internet technologies, lasers and biomedicine. For this I pay 20 LTL, which would be equivalent of ~7 US dollars.

I live in the countryside I can't really play between 5pm-10pm; it gets really laggy at that point. A lot of areas in Britain have very slow internet connection compared to say, Sweden.

Terribad AT&T DSL... Getting u-verse soon as they finish planting the fibre cable in my neighborhood. We even got the little card in the mail saying, 'U-verse is available in your area!' I went down to the AT&T store and the clerk told me, 'yeah, no... u-verse won't be available in your neighborhood until April 2011. However, we can boost your dsl if you'd like new service!' /leave store >_> wtb fibre internet and tv! Only getting 5 football games a week, which does NOT include Monday Night Football is really lame...

According to CWRU, this is the second fastest in America, behind NASA. I'm dubious of their claim; also, NASA's internet on a user access level isn't even that mind blowing (at least not at GRC).

The problem is it drops me in-game sometimes but I can't complain because it's between that or dial-up here... I don't think satellite would help you. It implies something like a 300ms latency due to the distance. You might get good bandwidth, but the latency is bad. I just thought I'd mention it, because latency kills you with any application where you want real-time input.
